Thanks for letting me join. ac works fine, very cold vent temp. Compress doesn’t cycle off so the lock sensor flashes the ac light and turns compressor off. I expect evaporator temp sensor. Looking for someone experience with similar issue. Thanks in advance.

What do you mean it doesn't cycle off?
It's not supposed to unless evaporator temp drops below about 35F (to prevent the evaporator from freezing up) or high side pressure rises above 455 psi (to prevent system damage from excessive pressure).

On Gen 2 if the temp selector is on max the AC will not shut off after you push AC off button - you have to turn the temp selector knob back a little off max and then it will allow shut off and vent air can come on as blend door moves then. Just in case this is your issue. Of course the fan has to be on (not off) to get any AC.

I’ve recently had a similar problem, my diagnosis right now is the AC magnetic clutch assembly. Relatively simple replacement so fingers crossed that is truly my issue. Parts are on order. While I’m replacing it I’m also going to replace the serpentine belt, idler wheels and the tensioner. Ive got 175,000 on all of those original parts so…. For the moment I just have the AC off and its fine.

The light stays on until the system freezes up then the compress disengages and the ac light flashes. Seems that the evap sensor is malfunction and causing the freeze up.

That does sound like a faulty evaporator temp sensor.
You can check the resistance at the 2 pin connector behind the glovebox and compare it to the chart.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I ordered a scaner once I find the issue i will share the results. If it is the sensor, is it possible to change it with out removing the dash.

The A/C amplifier won't talk to a scan tool on a 2nd gen, you have to check things manually with a meter and test light.

Your supposed to pull the dash and box to change it, some have drilled a hole and put it in a different spot to avoid that but you have to be very careful drilling.
