I have a 2007 tacoma with 250 k miles. I bought the truck with 200k miles. I have replaced the mishaft bearing 3 times, and the rubber around the bearing keeps failing. The rear leaf spring recall has been fixed on my truck. Looking for suggestions.

Are they parts store aftermarket bearings? If so not surprising at all, the rubber they use in those is complete trash.

Yes, they are aftermarket parts. I can get a bearing from toyota, but i was thinking i had a bigger problem, causing the rubber to fail.

We've seen nothing but issues with parts store carrier bearings on pretty much everything, the rubber deteriorates very quickly.

You could go with a Dana/Spicer unit as that's who makes the driveshaft for Toyota.

I think there's also a few aftermarket companies that make the bearing surround out of polyurethane instead of rubber that are supposed to be a little more robust but I haven't tried any of them so I don't know if they last longer or not.

Dana Spicer part and follow the correct torque procedure for the nut. I think it’s something like 134 ft lbs to seat the bearing and then loosen and retorque to like 51 ft lbs? Parts store parts for items like this are never a good choice sadly.

Does anyone think it could be a driveshaft / suspension problem? I dont feel vibration while driving. Just a small shudder when accelerating from a full stop.
