For context: I picked up an Auxbeam BA80 switch controller to run some lights/accessories, but have yet to find a permanent mounting solution for it. I was waiting for the R4T switch panel to come back in stock, but alas, they've confirmed they won't be carrying it on their website any more and referred me to OE Panels.

The R4T website had an option to include a small switch for the Clutch Start Cancel button since the panel does not have a slot for a tall switch. The OE Panels website finally has the panel available, but their website does not have an option to include a short CSC switch when ordering.

Curious if I can just order any short switch and have it connect in place of the tall switch? I'd prefer a plug and play solution versus having to hassle with adapting the wiring/soldering anything.

Thanks in advance to anyone in the know.

I was always curious how R4T could simply include a small switch. The CSC functions are built into the switch, so you need a special switch designed exactly for this function.

To my knowledge, Toyota doesn’t make a short CSC switch, only a tall one. Maybe I’m wrong on that, but I’ve never seen one. I have no clue how R4T came up with something to provide. Maybe worth asking them?

Personally I bypassed the clutch semi-permanently with a little jumper harness. If I ever want to reintroduce the clutch interlock (for inspections, dealer work, etc), I just unplug the jumper and plug the harness back into the clutch switch. I did keep my CSC switch in place (though it officially does nothing beneficial) because I wanted everything to stay original and my custom switch panel from Etsy offered accommodations to keep the tall switch (and I bought the panel before I did the bypass anyways).

I was looking at some Etsy options while waiting to see if the R4T panel ever came back in stock. From the pictures I've seen the finish on many of them looks rough and obviously 3D printed. I was hoping for something indistinguishable from a factory panel. How's the quality of yours? Is it something that you can mount an Auxbeam into while keeping the tall switch? I'd really like to find an elegant solution to get everything finished up without having the switch controller bolted onto the dash or in an awkward to reach location out of sight. As it is, I've got the controller routed so that I can just keep it sitting in my cupholder, but it isn't a permanent solution and I'm tired of the truck feeling unfinished.

I suppose that could be a viable option if push comes to shove, but I'd prefer not to have a permanently live clutch. My ol' lady often drives the truck and she's pretty clumsy. I could 100% see her trying to turn on accessory power mode and inadvertently running the truck forward into a parked car or something.

I went with one from Fitztaprint. I do not have any sort of switch hub like Auxbeam or anything else, I opted for all separate switches. I do know they offer options for hubs like that, not sure if they offer for Auxbeam specifically.

I was a little concerned about the texture not matching the truck. I chose “textured” instead of “smooth,” the smooth looked horrible in the photos. Textured looked iffy but it turned out pretty decent to me. It’s rougher than stock but since the whole panel is off to the left and in the dark, you don’t really see it. Even looking at it on purpose, nobody would ever know it isn’t stock. I needed it for the solution it provided, so ultimately I hoped for the best and it turned out okay.

Reason I did separate switches and not Auxbeam type is because I like the stock look they maintained, and for my picky switch functions I really needed something I could customize. Things like auxbeam limited what I wanted to do and so I couldn’t really make those options work.

The only thing I had to do to make this panel work was I had to Dremel out some of the dash plastic frame behind the stock switch panel, since there are no switches so close to the edges of the stock panel. It wasn’t hard. Clearance for an auxbeam will probably require about the same.

The CSC isn't a simple switch, it's essentially a latching relay built into a switch so you can't just put a simple switch in place of it and have it function the same.

Now I guess you could use a momentary or latching switch between Pin 2 (Beige) and Pin 4 (Yellow) to accomplish the same thing but you would have to hold the switch if using a momentary switch or not forget to turn the switch off if using a latching switch.

This is what the switch looks like inside, I doubt there would be enough room in a small push switch for all the components.

    Hahaha! I hear you there.

To be honest, I'm a mess myself and only hit the starter on my bike once. I was on it and it didn't even move.

I did warn the fam even though they never drive the Taco and always leave it in Neutral if I leave them in the passenger seat and tell them that they can turn the key for air or whatever if needed.

    This and that
I was convinced a long time back, that you would never find a short csc switch. So I slapped some Velcro on it and tucked it under the dash after my meso panel arrived (minus a tall spot). Eventually I ordered another panel from fitzaprint, textured, and yes it looks different, but not now that it is in there. Tall switch back in place, horizontal cargo switch too. image.jpg

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone who may stumble upon it with a similar concern. I've received a response from sales@oepanels.com and they've confirmed "We will have the CSC switch available in about a month." I'll follow up once everything is installed with final thoughts.

I have the fitzaprint also and it honestly looks fine. I have the same concern also about different finish but it is a non-concern now that I have put it in.

Agreed, and I am super picky. I dislike the color of the AOB “Toyota new blue” far more than the panel. The panel doesn’t bother me at all because it doesn’t look out of place.
