Built this platform upon getting my new DCLB. Pretty much went exactly like the original. Had some issues as I used scraps of residential carpet and it made things too snug with the bed rails. Otherwise it worked great!

How do yall feel about the fact that you can't really sit up with raised platforms? It's kind of the only thing holding me back from doing a build out because I like to setup in the back to just hangout for a bit before crashing.

I can sit up under my midrise cap with drawer and mattress topper. It's close and I didn't measure it going in, but it worked out well in my case.

What we do in our small trailers is mount 4 inch computer fans in a standard 14 inch roof vent nice and quiet compared to a Mazfan or others

I have a question about the sleeping platforms that I see in this thread. Everyone knows about the
tacoma lean so why are the platforms on the drivers side. Wouldn't it be better to have them on the
passengers side?? Or does the stuff everyone take weight more than the folded up bed and stuff
piled on it. Not trying to start an argument, just curious, since I just use a pad on the bedrug.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Never thought about the Taco lean when I built mine. My bigger concern was I wasn't sure I wanted it on the passenger side, potentially blocking the AC outlet.

I have one that I installed on my DIY wedge camper. While I just got the setup completed and camped 4 nights in throughout west Idaho, I can confirm that they are quiet and move air. Also draw very little power. I ran mine through the night, 2 nights in a row and it only drained 1 4aH Dewalt battery on my temp electrical setup. I was running 3 sets of LEDs for bed lighting as well. Not for long but long enough to drain some of it down. I have more pics I will add to my profile of my setup with the electrical if interested. I through it together since the trip was last minute.

Update: Uploaded a few more pics of the setup and can grab more tomorrow if needed for the electrical panel. Should be pretty straight forward to understand though.

I finally got the leak figured out fully. Turns out the windows were mounted low, so when it rained, and especially while driving, water would get in from the top edge of the caps windows. We re-mounted all the windows so they covered all the edges of the holes evenly and bam, no more leaks.

Curious, would you not rate sleep on a mattress on the bed floor for more head room to sit up.
I don’t think I would like the elevated platform.

I agree. I had built my platform to tall when I had a topper and couldn’t sit up. So I built an actual camper.
