It's a navy airlift prototype in development. I can't remember the name of the program. It flies extremely low using some type ground effect to create additional lift. Designed to lift naval forces and supplies to beach for offload. I'll hit up my coworker that told me about it, he might have a link? :notsure:

    Just the basics
Better to redesign the lower fuselage and create a single hull with retractable wingtip pontoon floats like the PBY had.

so i know there are several tracking sites that allow you to see current air traffic but are there any sites that you can look up past flights? just the last few days?
had a C130 do a low pass over my camp this weekend. I was just curious what he was doing in my neck of the woods (literally)
first thought was he was doing recon or infared of the wildfires in the area but then he only made the one pass and didnt do any others to complete a grid.

Flightaware lets you see quite a bit of history, but the only way I know to access it is with a tail number.

Too smoky and cloudy here. But I’m heading out camping tonight so maybe I’ll get lucky if it’s still happening

Instead of a "Wing and a prayer", it's a "Tire and a Prayer".

In Puget Sound region for the week. Port Townsend Aero Museum is a great place to visit, especially if you like tail draggers. Love watching the sea planes depart from Lake Union as well. Seafair is this weekend, will have to see how close I can get. Loved Seafair when we lived here.20240731_212713394_iOS.jpg 20240731_212515859_iOS.jpg 20240731_213824174_iOS.jpg 20240802_175740578_iOS.jpg 20240802_175750081_iOS.jpg

Checkout the Museum of Flight. The Blue Angels are based at Boeing Field for Seafair and the museum is right next to where they take off.

There was always this. I saw one many years ago on Lake Washington near Kenmore WA.
    I thought that a DC-3 had crashed.

Looks like Lockheed had actually done some preliminary concept work on doing exactly what you suggest. Up until just this year, USSOCOM was trying to get a MC-130J float plane but unfortunately it looks like they shelving it.

Very cool. Not surprising they had thought about this in the past. I guess the float plane version would make more sense as they could just attach the float structure to the existing landing gear points. I still like the hull design better.

The food at the nearby Spruce Goose Cafe is good. It's usually our post ferry ride lunch stop when we head to the peninsula. It's not uncommon for a few helicopters to show up for lunch. We had NAS Whidbey SAR show up one time and then a civilian Huey landed next to them.

Basics. Tires, painted headlighes, UHLM, baby winch in the bed, and heated mirrors :)
Finally finished my commercial last week! Celebrated by taking my girlfriend to her first airshow, catching the Thunderbirds in Maine. No, of course I didn't warn her about sneak passes. ;)

If there's ONE thing a hot, sticky, humid day is good for....(not my pic, I was too busy watching and keeping some blood in the upper half of my body)
