As you know, my Tacoma was somewhat of an impulse buy. I’m sitting here now negotiating a deal on a trd off-road unit. I should’ve bought this from the beginning, but the discounts weren’t where they are now. I’m saving over 6K MSRP plus getting 2500 more than I paid for my SR5.

Will attach photos in a few minutes

I have to say Sunnyvale Toyota was really great. No games, no add on’s and they were reasonable and flexible. Happy to recommend them and Paulo who made the experience enjoyable.

    deal 12.12% off srp

Deal % is irrelevant in my book when you throw in a trade. Dealers can manipulate the numbers just to make you happy and feel good. Sounds like they succeeded.
    Enjoy the new truck.

If they literally paid him more than he originally paid and he got $6,000 off MSRP how did they win?
This place is nuts with how condescending everyone is.

Not condescending just facts. When you throw in a trade and financing into a deal it usually isn’t a true % off MSRP or the same as if you where to negotiate a complete cash deal then decide to finance or trade in.

In most cases I’d agree with you. Msrp on the trade is 43,3xx. I paid 38k so how do you figure these numbers are jumbled around to make it look like a better deal?

    also, I’m independently financed.

Your deal may be. My point was in general. I mean did you actually try to sell your car on FB marketplace or auto trader and get an offer? People love to share their % off MSRP and that one data point (most of the time brag point) is completely dependent on other things. To me (which I am entitling to
My opinion and if folks think my opinion is condescending then they have the problem) a true % off number is someone walking in and negotiating a pure all cash deal. That is the true % off. Dealers can give people 20% off but their trade in is below market and their rate to finance is well above market yet they are excited they got 20% off MSRP. That was my point.
Basically who give two sh$ts what you got off MSRP. You are happy and you got the truck you wanted so really who cares what you paid. That’s the way I look at it. Buy what you want for what you are willing to pay for it.

That’s awesome, enjoy your new truck!!!

Yes I agree the dealership will always play with numbers but in the end as long as the end result of your financing works out with what you calculated you’re good, enjoy!!

I don't think that price is anywhere close to invoice....thats where a solid deal lies. But it is impossible to tell without seeing the window sticker and how many extras are stacked on that truck making their made up MSRP 49K.

Invoice or 500 over invoice OTD would be solid.

Implication that there is more than $6,000 between invoice and MSRP?

Sure, final cash price including taxes and fees....OTD is the only number that matters at least in a negotiation or at least to me. Every line item that is taxable is negotiable.. Cuts thru all the BS.

If its a TRD OR 5ft bed invoice is $39745/ 6ft bed $40,207. Without knowing the additional packages, options, add ons etc it is kind of hard to take a look at that deal. Is the 6K "discount" fees and extras that shouldn't be there anyway?

It seems to be a decent deal.

What is your final price going to be, looking at it $33600? plus fees or have you negotiated your OTD.

Assuming most of the MSRP is FIO, invoice is probably $2,000 max under MSRP.
Dealer adds are a different game of course, don’t know how much a dealer makes on PIO, since port installs if not dealer.

Ok, I appreciate all the conjecture here. I’ll upload the Maloney in a bit. Invoice is 3k below msrp. I am 3+k below invoice.
