RE: OTD, that sounds like a strategy but it doesn’t matter here in California. OTD is the negotiated price plus all government fees, which aren’t negotiable. The dealer gets a non negotiable 85.00 doc fee and Gavin gets the rest.

Congrats on the new truck, nice color. OTD negotiation is no different in California than it is in the rest of the country. My personal strategy is negotiate OTD to get to the fair number...then and only then will I mention or drop into the conversation that I have a vehicle to trade.

If I am shopping on the lot and not online, the dealer never knows I even have another car until I get the OTD price I am happy with.

It is nice that we can finally get back to doing some negotiating and getting some better pricing on cars. Even with in demand models there is room to negotiate. I just had to buy another car a couple of weeks ago and it was pretty much back to normal, including the salesman tricks..lol...although judging by the delivery they may be a little rusty...lol

I’m not going to go back and forth with you. I think you have a different way of looking at pricing and assessing a good price. You mentioned getting 500 or so under invoice for a good price. I’m over 3k under invoice. By your definition, I’m doing/did very well. OTD is simply that 3k+ under invoice + govt fees which you have to pay. The dealer will not pay your taxes and registration fees. ‘Nuff said.

How's the 4cyl? Was curious to know if it's an improvement over the 3.5?

Dealer Invoice and MSRP or sticker price are not the same thing.

Everything quoted was MSRP. Then stated I’m over $3K under invoice. Dealer Invoice is what the dealer paid.
MSRP is what they try to get you to pay.
The numbers quoted are MSRP right off the sticker.

    No?
MSRP on his paper is $49,610. His selling price is $43,598, what are you looking at? It's in his first post.

I drove both back to back when I bought the 24 red taco. It’s 100% better power train/power delivery. All that tq at 1700 rpm makes its feel strong right off the line. You’re doing the posted limit before you realize it. I had to start watching myself so I wasn’t doing 50 in a 35 all the time.

Not sure why this is difficult to grasp.

    Msrp 49610————invoice 46600——purchase under invoice 43598.

    6012 off Msrp

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
By the sound of it, make sure the tranny has fluid in it before you leave. Good luck!

I traded my 2016 in for a new OR. It's a gross improvement.
