Hey I recently started modding my Tacoma and am ready to lift it. I have read different forums and get confused what I should do and in what order. I was wanting a 2” lift kit.
I have upgraded my headlights, taillights, and wheels. I upgraded from the boring 16” stock wheels to HeloHE901 17”. This year I got new 245/75/r17 tires.
My drive style is mostly city with the occasional off-roading in the mountains about once a month. Nothing crazy like climbing rocks in Moab.
I want to make the most of my tires as they are less than a year old. Would it be dumb to get a lift kit with the smaller tires or should I wait until I get new tires? It appeared people also recommended getting 285 tires when lifting a truck.
I read that lifting it would mess with the front censor. I plan on getting an aftermarket grill that people say corrects the censor if it’s lifted.
I am also curious about my suspension. Would it be worth it to upgrade suspension or stick with the stock SR suspension.
Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I can say that for myself that lifting the truck did not mess up the front sensor.IMG_0128.jpg

I kept it simple, Bilstein 5100's with OME springs up front and Headstrong 3 Leaf AAL in back with a 1/2" block and Bilsteins there too. Got basically 2 inches all around and run 265/75R17's which are basically 1 inch taller than stock. Truck could probably have tackled the same terrain with just a set of these more aggressive tires in a stock size but I like the look of a little lift and the suspension rides so much better than the stock SR5 stuff did. This is high enough for me and isn't causing and vibrations at all.
