    Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a new LEER canopy for my 2009 TRD Sport and I'm trying to sort out the wiring for the internal night light and the third brake light. I’ve attached a photo of my old hitch harness and the canopy wiring harness. Can anyone tell me if they can be made compatible or if I need to splice into the brake light?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Here are photos of the old hitch harness and the canopy wiring harness:

I think you want to take you're brake light from the wires at the tail light instead of at the trailer connector. At the trailer connector the brake light is combined with running lights. For an anytime interior light you'll need to run some wire to the cab or hood for 12V. Your 4 pin trailer connector doesn't have 12V run to it that you can tap into.

What he said^ I tapped into the 2 wires on the taillight for the 3rd brake light, I think I might have followed these instructions from GFC
    https://forum.gofastcampers.com/t/how-to-wire-gfc-brake-light-2nd-gen-tacoma/700

I just used 2 T taps, check your polarity if its LED and that the light works before buttoning it all up. I'm doing interior lighting separately from the LEER dome light, if you use a switched 12V that's already back there you'd need to turn your headlights on or the key on to use the dome light which isn't that ideal. I don't think there's a constant so you'd have to run one.

Appreciate the insight. I don't mind having to turn the key for the interior light. Anyone which wire at break light I could T tap for that?
