I did similar to this post for my lights. Didn't have enough space to shove the solar panel wires in there, so I have them held onto the side of the windshield pocket with black duct tape. I don't have any great pictures of it

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/roof-rack-lightbar-wire-routing.723910/

My panel is just bolted to the roof rack 8020 rails on top, not flush mounted. The holes are standard spacing so I was able to use them as-is, just shove some 1/4-20 bolts in there and use them as studs.

I have the cali raised roof rack, so my bars don't have any slots, just holes, so the spacing is fixed. If I had the slots, I'd do a flush mount.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/improving-the-cali-raised-roof-rack.704714/

As it is - I could, maybe, do some cross-rail 8020 pieces and use them to mount flush somehow. I'll look at it in the off season and debate if it's worth the hassle to break it all down and do it fancy dancy.

My only hold up is the solar panel I ordered will probably have to be perpendicular to that.

I definitely want to see how you wired it. I’m just curious on securing the wire if I go behind the cab between the bed to run wire into the bed through the cubby

This wasn't the subject of the picture but it's there - I rotated mine and put it driver side, with the kayak on the pax side. I ran the wires on the driver side to the driver side battery, so it made sense instead of doing the kayak on driver side.

All depends on your setup and where you want to run wires. I ran to the battery and then battery into the cab for an always-on 12V in the cab. I want to extend that to the bed - TBD when. If you have a panel and second battery in the bed, yeah just run it straight into the bed.

A lot of the stuff I did to my Tacoma was adding things you couldn't get it with. Heated seats and mirrors, better stereo, suspension that didn't sag with 200 lbs in the bed. I've barely done anything to my F-150s.

The difference is with the Tacoma I wouldn't cut corners on my modifications because I accepted there was stuff I wanted to do. On the Fords, sometimes I cheap out and regret it. On the last truck I put Ford rear wheel well liners in and they were perfect. On this one, I bought Rough Country ones figuring how can anyone really mess up something like that. They work, but the fit isn't anywhere near as good as the Ford ones and they rattle around a bit as a result. I'm fighting the urge to rip them out and buy the Ford ones like I should have in the first place.

Your truck didn't come with rear wheel well liners?

IDK if ya'll remember this project. Last major interior feature finished. Removable hard bottom, color matched suede. All I need to do now is make and attach the rolltop/storm collar.

@deanosaurus Did you ever put safetcaps on your truck? Steven aka Ron Jeremy has a few spots with rust issues.

    Wondering about process and fitment

Nope - this one is super weirdly optioned. It's a Lariat with the top option package (502a) that the dealer then ignored all the cheap a la carte options on. It doesn't have the 7.2kw power system (has 2.4), B&O unleashed sound (has 8-speaker B&O), wheel well liners, or work surface. All sub $1000 options that I would have added, then done standard running boards instead of the power ones and it would have been a wash.

I don't think any of that is possible on the 2024s, though, since Ford did away with some of the customization it would have just had all of that by default.
