I’d check into the CPO (certified pre-owned) I’m pretty sure Toyota’s mileage limit for CPO is like 75k. Please correct if mistaken.
If that’s one of the selling points for you.

thanks to everyone for clarifying its a trd off road. Life aint cheap after covid .According to the site its silver certified so Eligibility: vehicles up to 10 model years old and between 60,000-125,000 miles on odometer; outside Gold eligibility parameters. Please let me know what would be a fair price and talk some sense into me.

That makes sense. I didn’t realize there were other tiers also.

But it has 120k miles. So how long does it cover? When I bought mine with 5k miles CPO it was 7 years/100k miles.

Looking at the website it’s only a 12k/12 month limited powertrain warranty. For me that CPO mention is worth nothing to me.

Based on a quick search, looks like that's where the dealer market is. Which is insane to me. I won't bother with the I bought my X for $Y, because that irrelevant today.
You can wait around to get lucky and/or search private deals which should bring it down to mid-low 20k (based on KBB).

Negative ghost rider, its a hard pass for me too!

Don't be stuck on the "within 200 miles" of me thing! I flew from Central Florida to St Louis to buy my 2013.

Look for a better deal from an individual, one owner with receipts. Don't be in a hurry!

I like to drive a manual as long as the engine mated to it is compatible. I wouldn't touch a manual in a 3rd gen Tacoma, 2nd gens are only slightly better. When manuals were common, they were mated to engines that got torque at 2000-2500 rpm. The axle ratios were lower as were 1st and reverse gears in the transmission. Modern engines are designed to work with automatic transmissions.

A 3rd gen Tacoma needs 4600 rpm to get torque, 1st and reverse are geared too high. The torque converter in an automatic offsets this. With a manual you spend too much time revving the engine and slipping the clutch to get them moving. It's darn near impossible to back a trailer up-hill.

I have an 18 manual OR. 120K miles would not necessarily scare me, but I would be digging deep for maintenance records. If it has all the oil changes/plugs/etc to prove maintenance, then your next order of business is to take it for a long test drive on the highway. Vary speeds between 35 and 75 and listen for gear whine. If that checks out (probably going to hear it, but how bad is it) and the car fax checks out, then get a mechanic to lift it and check it over. I'd be looking for rock damage, excessive corrosion (not sure where you live or where the truck came from), oil leaks, etc. Then, the price might be worth it to you. Personally, I would rather have a 3rd gen then 4th gen. If nothing else, you would have some ammunition to get the dealer to reduce their price if you were still interested. Good luck.

Not worth it, maybe 3k less but I doubt they’ll negotiate based on your feedback. Try searching nationwide, make a roadtrip out of it and you don’t even have to haggle

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

Increase your search range and be patient, about 1.8 million 3ed gens were sold.
If 5% were manuals that is around 91,000 trucks.

Study + search + wait + travel = get the truck you want at a reasonable price.

I wonder where people get all these random numbers they’re throwing out.

Nobody cares what you bought your truck for back in 2018. It isn’t 2018 anymore.

The used truck market is steep. I wouldn’t personally pay that much for a truck with 120k miles, but if that’s what they’re going for, that’s what they’re going for. If OP wants a truck that bad that’s the price he will have to pay. Otherwise, buy a Corolla and wait a few years.

Thanks everyone for the replies! I think I will wait a bit longer, just worried since my old nissan is getting up there. has 200k miles on it and its giving me signs it might leave on the road at any moment. Also been contemplating getting the 2024, the front looks fine to me just the rear is what throws me off. But i'll keep my eyes open, also seen other options in terms of tacomas but they all have like 50k miles and dealerships are asking like 35-40k at that point just get a new tacoma with virtually 0 miles.

A manual transmission vehicle with multiple owners isn't concerning. Some drivers get tired of shifting and trade.

I'd look for something newer with lower mileage. This truck is likely worth 20-22k.
