Unusually heavy traffic this afternoon and this brand new Toyota Hilux with manufacturer's plates passed on the left. These shots aren't super great but you kinda get the idea.

You’re wrong you’re on the 405 no such thing as unusually heavy traffic. It would truly be unusual if there was no traffic but sweet hilux too bad we will never be worthy and ironically commiefornia is why the rest of the us can’t get it (emissions)

I agree with you. There was a time about a decade ago when they shut the 405 down from top of Sepulveda pass down to the 10FWY to work on one of the bridges. A friend of mine went up in a helicopter and photographed that "event" as it were while others brought out their picnic tables and had an early dinner on the empty freeway.

Actually, I'm rarely out in the middle of the day and plan my trips to miss traffic, so for me, this was unusually heavy but it got even heavier on the 10 East and then heavier again on surface streets to get back to my photo studio.

It’s probably a current model so no need for cammo and the Mexico and I’m sure other countries market is left hand drive

Can’t I just put a Tacoma badge on it and drive it here?
    Nobody would notice, right?

you could illegally put your Tacoma license plate on it but if you ever got in an accident or caught you’re pretty screwed I reckon

I only knew that I had never seen that truck before and it wasn't until I saw Hilux on the tailgate that I knew it was a Toyota. Anyhow, I just figured it was interesting enough to post a few snaps while driving.

I drive one every day they are mid. Maybe they're doing some type of head-to-head challenge Hilux vs Tacoma for YouTube, tv etc... or its for military use.

It's ugly and that's coming from a Tacoma fanboy. That makes the 4th gen look like a supermodel.

It is ugly, but in a good kind of ugly way. Looks almost like a 4G, or a Hilux dressed up like a 4G Pro.

I'm not sure where the next gen Hilux is headed, but I don't know if the overseas offroad communities are going to like it. I'll have to wait and see how that goes. Regular use customers probably won't be to upset by the changes.

    Edit

I wonder if the wheels have been stolen off of it yet?
