So I did a seat swap and it went great.
My dash airbag light went on (and stays on, no blinking) and that was expected from disconnecting my wiring from the passenger seat.

I have since hooked everything back up and the light was still on.

Took the sensors off the old seat and put hose clamps of the light is still on.

Plugged in seat belt buckles. Light still on.

Can’t read the air bag codes using 3 different OBD 2 readers.

Found a lot of miss directing videos and other speculation that hasn’t helped.

Hoping someone knows the proper approach.

My next plan is to find someone who can reprogram the passenger airbag brain as it seems to get thrown off when you remove the sensors from the OEM seat?

Did you disconnect the battery before you began the swap?
If you did, have you tried to leave the battery disconnected for at least 5 -10 min then reconnect.

I had issues with the drivers side seat connector not properly seating into each other. Turns out it is a very common problem with Toyotas. Re-seating it with the battery disconnected cured my issue.

For the process of elimination, have you tried to return the SRS circuit back to the condition with the old seat and see if all items on the truck side are working. Good luck!

I don’t believe I did. I’ll try disconnecting the battery for a long period of time and see if that helps.

As for the other problem you had are you referring to the plastic male and female connection?

unfortunately, I am now unable to mount the sensors back onto the passenger seat.

I was following another thread, in which to fix the airbag light. Someone removed the occupancy sensors from their mounts and put wire bands on them to activate the sensors under his new seat.

I had a similar issue a while back during a seat swap so I de-soldered the airbag light from the cluster. Out of sight out of mind, right?

    That could be the difference.

Yes, the air bag system works on sensing the low resistance connection of the airbag. From what I’ve seen about 2.2 ohms.
Any increase in resistance in the overall circuit above the threshold set by the computer will result in the light being turned on. A bad connection will increase overall resistance.

I just referred back to the sensor, image and thought of something.

Maybe the sensors need to be in their exact spot and I put them in the wrong spot once I cut off their metal tabs to save space under the seat.

This, of course, was this case, the sensors need to be in the exact spot in which they were originally formatted for the airbag brain

Each sensor has a sticker on the side and it needs to be in the correct spot.

This is a universal pattern across all the Tacoma’s see the image below, and the number I have written next to it.

This, just solve the issue. Thank you everyone else for your help.

I highly doubt positioning of those sensors has anything to do with your airbag light turning back off. Mine are just thrown back under the passenger seat and clamped. They aren’t geopositional.
