text button

2011 stock radio has the text button that was in my old 4 runner. In my 4runner I could touch that button and it would tell the song that was playing on the radio. That button doesn't do anything on my tacoma. Anyway I can enable it?

 

In my 2008, the text button is for the CD, not the radio.

 

i have to hit my 07 button twice. hit it once and it acts like it wants to think so I HIT IT AGAIN!! . . . and then it works for radio. ive yet to give it a cd it can read. even purchased ones.

 

it works here for radio stations but only ones that support RDS. On one station it is great on the other it just scrolls the station slogon instead of artist and song. I have a few cd's it won't read the cd name but it will read the song title.

only works for me with CD's that i've burned. maybe purchased ones too but i haven't done that in a decade.

 

Yes it does if the station suppors RDS if it does the radio will display a small "msg" on the screen. When the text button is pressed it will display the info. at least on my 2008, they may have removed that feature.

 

Only the JBL model supports RDS, you must not have the JBL. If you do have the JBL then yes it does work, and no stations in your area support RDS.

 

well thats depressing, i have the non. i've always liked the ones that tell you what song is playing.

 

After reading all the posts all I appreciate everyone's help. My 4runner had the JBL and it worked with radio stations. I put a cd in, hit the text button and it worked for a cd. So that answers my question thanks everyone.
