I recently Installed A 3.5 inch lift to my 3rd gen tacoma and apon parking it i noticed the boot and other components were covered in grease. Should I replace the boot with something aftermarket or would it make more sense just to buy a new rcv?

OP- Id lower the lift settings, you are basically maxed out on driveline angle(for the CVs) while sitting on the ground. This is why the CV is slinging its grease, its articulation path for each tire revolution is too steep. Id repack that CV, install new boot, and lower the front coil overs.

Boot will probably be the least of your problem with that much angle. You could get a high angle cv boot that will at least keep the grease intact until it grenades.

Your title is very misleading. You do not have an RCV boot that failed.

ewwff. Slow down, back up and do some research on lifts. As mentioned, you are most likely too high and need to reduce lift and/or angles,,, or it will just keep happening.

    welcome too!

I had this about 2 years ago as well. I'm not as handy as most guys on here so I had the CV axel replaced on passenger side.
2 months after warranty expired it happened again. The shop said they would only charge for parts, but when I asked about an upgraded CV axel they said they have them but will have to do both. So they cut some off of labor and put on upgraded longer travel CV axels to accommodate my lift. I don't have a 3.5 lift like you do...but the guys on here will definitely be a better resource than I will.

    Just my own experience.
