On my 16th birthday, when I got my license, I told my dad I'd buy a pickup. That was 1986.

In 2021, I finally did just that. A 2019 Tacoma Sport, Longbed 4wd. (Hey, family and careers happen. Get over it.)

I joined TacomaWorld just after to get info on the best locking bed cover for an upcoming road trip. I ended up with a Bakflip 4. No issues with it yet, and it's 2024.

Used that for a 7K mile cross country camping trip in 2022 (end of Covid). From LA area to AZ, NM, AR, TN, NC,VA, PA, IN, and back across the Dakotas into Yellowstone and home again. Always boondocking in mostly 4wd needed locations.

Ditched the road slicks (made the boondocking a bit challenging even with 4wd) for Toyo ATIIIs, and I love them. Makes camping trips into Sierras in snow a breeze. Also makes minor mud ventures in summer in the deeper Sierras doable as well as snow trips up to the ski resorts easier. And makes local mountains January anniversary trips a no-brainer.

Residing in So.Cal., working as a Principal, until I can retire and spend more time in nature.
