    Hello,
As some of you may have seen my prev posts about purchasing a tacoma, but decided to keep looking due to rusted frames.

I found a new one online, clean carfax, no crashes, 3 owners going for 12k (hoping to talk down)

Here are some pictures. I asked dealer to take some of the underneath of the car to check for rusted frame, as per my last post.

It also has 249,280 Miles. Is that too high?

Here she is... Also its in a different state, so may need to fly out there or ship if it looks good.

also, they didnt really take pictures of the middle of the frame, so i asked for more....

what do we think? Good buy or another stay away?

    Thankss for all the help!

Scrubbed some tires, and knocked a dent out.
Doesnt look rotted through like the last one. Youre in a tough spot. Anything with that many miles is risky. But trucks are expensive. Id wanna know what service records there are if its got a quarter million miles on it.

I agree, I have seen a lot of tacos for sale in the 300k 350k 400k range as well, so I'm lead to believe it can last for a good amount of time. Here is the car fax report if you are curious

the carfax is interesting. the note i see is the 3rd owner only had it for 3 months. that's a very short time-- there's no way to know, but either they bought the wrong kind of truck, or they discovered something not good about it. the interior looks really good for a truck with 250k miles on it. normally tears, burns, or gunk collects on the seats.

being an arizona truck, it notes that the windshield has been replaced multiple times(very common from sand pitting)-- before putting money down, personally, i would insist on using a water hose and spraying down the entire windshield area to ensure that it still has a good seal, and doesn't allow water into the interior--done right it shouldn't be a problem, but done wrong, mold removal gets expensive.

the listed maintenance history looks pretty standard, but doesn't appear to include any major service items like spark plugs, belts, water pump, or rubber hoses(common to dry rot in arizona climate). mostly tires, oil changes, and air filters. at the mileage it's at, consideration should be put into replacing the timing chain and guides as well.

also, depending on how risk-adverse you are-- it includes a stock spare tire, but is running upsized 4runner wheels and tires. meaning if you need to use the spare, the dash will light up like a christmas tree because one wheel will be rotating faster than the other three, and stopping and turning might trigger the ABS system unpredictably.

The mileage would kill the deal for me. Some may think they are but Tacos are not bulletproof. Mileage will kill any vehicle. The more miles the more problems. It may go 500000 miles or more but everything is going to wear out at some point, the starter, the water pump, the a/c, wheel bearings, power steering, and on and on, you get the point. When I was younger I use to buy older high mileage cars. I found I spent most of my spare time working on them. So if you buy a high mileage vehicle just be prepared to spend a lot of time and $$ working/repairing it.
