    Sounds like a bad ECT to me, if it goes open circuit it thinks the truck is like -40F and floods the shit out of it. Might start if floored but won't hardly run

    IMO
    What I can do here to drive(not a solution)
    -unplug MAF
    -start truck
    -get taco warmed up
    -plug in MAF
    Then drive

    ugh

    The only other likely failure point could be the intake temp sensor on the side of the airbox, see if it is loose, it can cause the same issue as the ECT

    Sensor too far back for multi meter
    Sensor is new but AM

    I think that'll go to like 250*F so maybe don't cause I'd bet it'll start like shit still, its a common sensor on old toyotas though, I have a couple from my old corolla, bet the local auto parts store has one for ya

    Ohms moved down when I put a lighter to sensor….moved down
    Put sensor in front of a fan moved up

    Yessir. That 89424-12010 part number looks good for a 96 Taco 2.4. Inlet Air Temperature sensor for EFI. It is superseded nowadays to 89424-06010, shows overnight availability at my dealership. Retail is around $124.

    Got back from mini vaca with kids today
    Air temp sensor has not arrived

    fingers crossed that this is the issue
    Keep everyone updated
