Raxiom Drl LED Bar Intermittently on/off

    20240810_224242.jpg So I bought aftermarket Raxiom Headlights for my 2012 base model, that have a DRL LED bar around the outside of the high/low beams. They worked great until one day offroading on washboard roads when the driver side LED stopped working for a while, and now turns on and off pretty much at random (when I have the headlights/DRL switched on). I checked every connection between the car and the lights, and all are fine, so i dont think it's the car's wiring. But I cannot get to the LED bar and wires inside the light to see if the issue is internal. Unfortunatley, this happened after the return period, and I don't want to buy another pair or pay a shop to look at them. Anybody know the safest way to loosen the butyl rubber and open the lense housing, and/or does anybody know how these LED bars are controlled or what the problem could be?

    If I had to take a wild-ass guess I would say you have an internal failure there, either brittle/poor solder joints have broken loose, condensation has caused corrosion on connections, or a straight up component failure of the LED strip. Aftermarket headlights, especially with a bunch of neat features, are notorious for poor reliability and early death. I say this not to harp on you (I'm sure plenty of people will be here shortly to do so), but to simply point out that there is a reason other than markup and the Toyota name that OEM headlights are so expensive for what it seems like you're getting compared to fancier aftermarket options.

    The best way to take them apart if you want to attempt to diagnose/repair them internally is going to be baking them apart, like in an oven. Look up some info on the Black Headlight Mod ("BHLM") for temps and times, but I wouldn't count on actually being able to repair it.
