You have any issues with dirt or water getting into the scoop when you have gone wheelin’ ?

    none, just a few bugs....
Even if I follow a sand rail, I may just get a little sand.
Stock intake you have to clean the filter out every day in the sand. I used to bring spare filters. Or at the end of a weekend the filter would be packed full of dirt, sand even rocks get suck up with the stock filter.
Even running through puddles fast won't suck up water.

The scoop is great. Gets cool outside air and no dirt gravel or water in the intake anymore like the stock intake..
I did block off the wheel well intake port..
You can get the whole intake or just the scoop... Great mod I would do it again....

I’m deciding between this or the URD true cold air intake right now.

been running mine for over a couple years with no issues. When I downsized my SC pulley and tried blocking the side port I did trip an AF code but once I removed the fanned cover and reset it hasn’t returned. I enjoy the set up a lot personally.

Thanks for the write-up. I have 6" fiberglass fenders and my stock intake port sucks up all types of stuff now. I was always curious about running the just the ram air scoop, and you answered my question. I'd like to run the whole Volant intake setup, but CA is such a PITA for that kind of stuff.

Old thread but I’ve been asked several times about the parts I used to go straight to the factory intake. Mine’s been on for a while now with no major deleterious effects that I know of.

Had my CAI sitting for a few months now and finally found some time to get in installed this past weekend. Definitely was a little more complex than some I've installed on my cars, but I figured it all out. The secondary air pump removal and the rubber grommets were probably the biggest PITA of the whole process, and getting the supplied piece of rubber tubing to fit onto it. Otherwise, I'm happy with the end result. I could tell right away from my first test drive that it was easier revving and didn't require as much throttle to get going either. After 3k RPMs, it really gets throaty and loud. I'm loving the extra sound my engine now makes, it also feels a bit faster from the midrange up to the top. Now I just need to buy the scoop for mine and I'll be set. After reading through this thread, I'll probably block off my fender pipe as well so it only pulls air from the scoop. Next mod is going to be an intake manifold spacer, then OTT tune it.
