Checking in on the 2.5 gen brake light harness development. In May ya'll were sounding pretty optimisitic. Put my Besttop Soft ttop back on there, so all of the sudden I'm antsy....

Just a question, when you run your trailer, the DD harness is still in play, and the trailer brake light/running light works fine? I've heard nothing else of this toruble so I wonder if you could have a short that's unique to your truck?

Shout out to @Diode Dynamics for the new harness for the 2nd gen Tacoma. Obviously listened to the frustration of us 2nd gen owners, poured R&D into a solution and knocked it out of the park. Finally installed my new harness today, literally less than 5 min total. Works great. Thanks again!

Yes. I contacted them months ago through TW. They put me in cue and got my harness a few weeks ago. Finally put it on yesterday

 

I was going to order one two weeks ago. Emailed help desk person said any 7 pin would work. When I called to offer and make sure. Other person said no get 2 yet. Do you know who you talked too?

 

I DM’d them on Tacoma world and they gave me a call. Not sure who it was but they were very helpful.

I got one from Hotshot off road a few months ago and worked great with my 2013 looks like DD just came out with one also .

 

Well crap !!!
Currently rebuilding my 7 pin and now I find out the DD7420 second gen reverse light kit will not work .
I ordered it at the beginning of 2023 thinking it was going to fit my 2010 and be plug and play as described in the video.
Its been sitting in the box for 8 months
Golly .
Guess I gotta make some phone calls dammit.
I will update this post after speaking with the boys at DD.

Update : the boys at DD took care of my issue quickly .
Thats a good company to deal with .
I highly suggest using them for your lighting needs.
They are sending me the correct harness to make my reverse light function

 

Proof that in business, if you have a good product, even where there are problems, good communication can overcome everything.

I was among the first to buy this item before they caught the harness issue. I was frustrated, but they never hid or ghosted me. They stepped up, owned it, acknowledged it could be a while before they have a fix and offered me a full refund. I chose to wait and see. They even followed up with ‘ are you SURE? It could be a while…’

They never gave unrealistic expectations where next month became 6 months.

once done I reached out and 4 days later it’s installed, works perfectly, and I remain an avid supporter of these guys. Have lights on both ends of my truck and may try to work a pair onto my motorcycle.

Just noticed that on my 2015 Tacoma that the hitch light strobes when the flashers are on. Didn't see that advertised unless I missed it. Might be something to add to description of functions. Love the light. Easy install.

 

We're glad to hear you're loving our C1R HitchMount LED pod!

Toyota vehicles do offer the strobing feature with the hazards. However, we have not been able to test all vehicles on the market to ensure it's functional across the board.

We'll look into these efforts with our engineering team!
