I’m looking to pick up a new, still in box Icon AAL from someone on FB Marketplace for my 2013 Tacoma.

The guy selling it had ordered it in 2020, never unboxed or used it, but sent the picture of his order from Icon which shows the product name as “ICON 2" Lift Rear Add a Leaf Kit 1995-2020”.

Is this simply the same 1.5” progressive AAL that they currently have on the market or is this an older version that provided an additional 0.5” of lift?

I was planning on ordering the progressive 1.5” AAL and planned to leave the overload in for 2 inches of lift. Ultimately trying to decide if this AAL will require me to remove the overload or if it’s the same 1.5” AAL they currently sell.

    Any help is appreciated.

You can use the AAL in conjunction with your oem overload. It will ride stiff unloaded though!

Basically yes, you can leave the overload in and it sits higher.

I wouldnt install it on an old leaf pack, it will sag right away. Typically AALs should go on the first 2 years for best results. After that window its a really weak band aid.

Understood with the overload vs no overload. My question is if this is the same AAL as the Icon 1.5” AAL currently being sold?

haven’t seen any threads mentioning a 2” Icon AAL in the past. If this is indeed a 2” AAL, I’ll have to decide between overload in or out so I’m not too rear high where with the 1.5” AAL I was planning on just leaving it it for extra support.

hope that question came through clear.

    Quick edit**
I have 2023 Leaf packs with 3k miles on them installed so my rear end should respond to an AAL well until I move forward with a full leaf pack

Did you call Icon and ask them?

I’d take your overload out and use the AAL. Even if it says 2”, it’ll sit a 1.5” or less after it breaks in. AAL’s, especially on tired OEM leafs, sag quickly.

I sent a support inquiry using the contact form, but probably better to call them. I’ll give em a quick call.

I have 2023 Leaf packs with 3k miles on them installed so my rear end should respond to an AAL well until I move forward with a full leaf pack.

I have an RTT currently ~ 180lbs but plan on getting a Go Fast Camper in February and figured the overload might give me that extra support with the 90 extra pounds.

I’ll advise you to ditch the AAL and go with a full pack now. The AAL wont hold the weight of a camper + gear. Spend the money and time to do it only once! You can find Icon RXT’s for a pretty cheap price.

Also the stock setup (overload in) + an AAL wont ride that well. A progressive leaf pack would be a far better choice.

Source: multiple Tacoma’s with campers, now Tundra with Topo topper. I have an AAL installed as a bandaid, and this thing squats hard fully loaded.
