I have a question regarding the spoiler or what ever you call it. Luckily mines came with the plug and has no noise but for some reason it looks weird, does anyone know of a company that makes a small lip that you can put back. Half the size might be good.

After reading through this thread, and considering removing the chin spoiler (mostly so I don't tear it off on the rare occasions when we venture out into the mountains), I crawled under the front of the truck, and my SR5 has the plugs in the arms. So I do find it interesting why some trucks of higher trim levels than the SR5 do not all have them. Must be a factory miss for those that do not have the plugs.

Ottawa Fasteners in Bell's Corners probably has a similar plug that would've worked for about 20 cents per.....ask me how I know...Lol

Good thing I was accosted by 2 guys wearing black suits after I bought the plugs... They waved some sort of a pen with a red light in front of my face and I don't remember stopping by the dealership...

But seriously, I should have looked around a bit more, I just got in a hurry to stop the howling! Good job finding cheap alternatives!

Heck, you could just put Gorilla Tape over them. The first thread I saw, the owner used blue painter's tape to test if the holes were the cause.

Is anyone else having problems getting the plugs from Toyota? My dealer's parts department doesn't seem to know what I am talking about and I have ordered the plugs but the order is on "hold", whatever that means.

I ordered them 2 weeks ago. They are on national backorder right now. Currently doing the trick is blue painters tape. Truck has been driving around the last week with all the rain from this SE storm and tape has held up fine. No dam, no whistle, no problem.

Clean the surface and use this tape. It has been on my jeep roof rails for 6 years and looks brand new still.

Just checked and they are installed on my SR5. Good to know, getting ready to remove the air dam!

Is there no crossmember due to the longer bed/box or just something they omitted from the Sport model?
I have a deposit on a Sport and considering holding off another year and see how things progress.
Took one for another test drive yesterday (3rd time out). I liked the truck but not sure about the value and reliability on the new platform, obviously too soon to say.

I installed these, 4 on each side on the 19mm (3/4") holes and the noise went away. Cheap and easy solution

I finally had what I needed to remove the air dam on my Hybrid TRD OR. I checked the holes before taking the dam off and verified the plugs were not installed on either side. I took it off the dam but before taping over the holes I took a drive, I wanted to hear the noise. Drove in the neighborhood, on a highway and opened it up on the freeway up to 70 mph and no whistling noise or anything unusual sounds. I can't imagine the hybrid frame being different but wondering why?

It's a light welded on crossmember in the front on the trims that you might expect to want a skid plate on (OR, Pro, Trailhunter). You can get a bolt-on one for the front skid plate from RCI https://rcimetalworks.com/product/front-skidplate-mounting-crossmember-24-present-tacoma/. Or a much more expensive one from NYTOP https://nytop.com/toyota-tacoma-acc...urrent-toyota-tacoma-front-frame-cross-member. Not sure which is better. I have the welded on one.

If anyone is looking at getting skid plates I just installed the Victory 4x4 one and it did the trick as well for eliminating that noise

These are perfect . In the end of the day they are just 4 holes to permanently plug . Anything will do .
You can also cut a piece of sheet metal the size of just that area and silicone it over the holes . ( paint it black before attaching it .

Nice, and I see it's specifically designed to fit Tacomas that do not have the crossbar. How good is the oil filter and oil drain plug access?

It's got a little mini door access there held in by a couple of bolts, super easy access.
