I have a '21 RAV4 limited with all the options, and now also a '24 Tacoma TRD OR with all the options. I was shocked to find out the new Tacoma did not come with automatic windshield wipers, no seat position memory? While I love the position of the wireless charging pad that allows me to still see the phone while on the pad, the wireless charger needs an on/off switch... too often it causes my phone to overheat, or even just taking into consideration that it's not good to over charge your phone.

Maybe, but the competition is much more stiff than it was before and likely to get stiffer, so Toyota will not be able to run with the 4-banger Tacoma w/o major improvements over the next 3-4 years. The Ranger PHEV w/ 28 miles of electric range is likely to come to the US in '26 and Tacoma could be suckling hind teat before you know it.

Due to CAFE and the such the 4 banger will be here to stay. It will get tweaked and tuned throughout the gen, but we will probably never see a V6 in a Tacoma again.

I was going to write the exact same thing, the rear seat is already cramped so there is no way they could afford to take space away.

It's just that it's such a common and time tested feature that, imo, should at least be on vehicles that costs $40k+, especially a trd off road that starts at around 41-42k msrp. But then again, I bought a 3rd gen trd off road premium knowing that these trucks don't have rear defrosters so maybe I'm just a hypocrite.

I think maybe he was referring to trucks have a vertical rear window. Less likely to trap moisture/snow than cars with their more sloped rear windows.

Agree the 4-cyl is not going anywhere but the current electrification options for Toyota trucks/SUVs are hardly impressive. Hopefully that changes before the refresh.

I know somebody already mentioned some of these but I'll try to strengthen the request....

I've only had my truck 6 days so my list may grow...lol.
    • Seat and mirror memory
    • Auto wipers
    • Black wheels with blackout package (duh!)
    • Larger fuel tank
    • Infotainment system-
      • Easier switch from Toyota to/from Android Auto or Carplay
      • Long press radio stations to change order of favorites
      • Configurable backgrounds instead of just bright white and black

If I had to bet, I would guess that the '25s won't be much different than the '24s. With the late rollout in 2024, lots of SRs and SR5s on the lots now, but fewer ORs / Pros / THs available, I'm thinking they'll keep them the same basically for 2025. Maybe a new paint color(s) and maybe a new wheel design(s) if they do anything.

Now, what I would like to see:
Std power seat for the drivers side - at least match what Nissan offers on a mid level SV Frontier on the Tacoma SR5 and higher trims. These days, power seats are like having AC - its standard on almost all but the lowest level poverty vehicles. Why Toyota made a power seat part of an expensive package harkens back to the 90's IMO.
Std floor mats - carpet, rubber, whatever, but $40k+ for a truck, it should come with some form of floor mat off the showroom floor without it being a port installed option costing more.
Mechanical locker/limited slip as an option for the lower trim level trucks - leave the e-locker for the OR and above trims if too costly, but a 4WD should at least have a limited slip in the rear end as an option.
More menu items vs packages - I wanted an integrated trailer brake controller, and ended up with more things than I would have paid for if I had the choice. Things I didn't get that I wanted in my SR5 was a spray in bedliner (I know... its already composite - why need a spray in? Just for looks really, and I might convince myself it would make it appear less scratched up over the years), and the underhood insulation mat.

If they want me to even consider trading in my truck for a new one after a mid-cycle update, they have to offer a 6' bed with the I-force hybrid option on something other than the TH. Preferably the OR or even the SR5 trim levels.

    1. A larger fuel tank. They cut a few gallons thinking the new engine's increased efficiency would make up for it. And that might be true in the base SR models, but it's definitely not accurate in the Off Road.

    2. Better MPG. Maybe it's just Californian gas (our fuel is basically corn syrup), but getting 18.5 MPG combined is just...disappointing. I realize it's a truck and I'm in the Off Road trim, but still: at least land in the low 20's after all this engineering magic.

    3. An off switch for the phone charger. Someone else mentioned the key fact: constantly charging the LiIon battery in your phone degrades it over time. I wish I could turn the pad off and still use it to hold my phone.

You have to think like a Toyota engineer/ corporate bean counter. Just like the snorkel I think the stupid pro seats will disappear however they probably will come out with more useless cheesy accessories since that’s been the theme of the 4th gen (pro seat, cammo, light bar etc) they will most definitely cram more tech and bloated software, probably the next gen cruise control where it will have more self driving features
