We were discussing lawn mowers the other day.
I mentioned that I have an old Murray rider that I use for my trails and out back.
Well I was finally able to get out back on Tuesday. Made it through a soft spot ok.
Just about done and I hear a clunk and the blades stop turning. I shut the blades off and smell of rubber and smoke filled the air. I get the mower to "safe" area. Shut it down and turn the gas off.
    Don't recall hitting anything thing.
Kinda broke a blade spinde mount plate.

    20240816_110428.jpg

    New one already ordered.

I did get stuck in that soft area on the way back to the garage.
I did a winch recovery with the 4wheeler.

Glad you are safe, that old cast piece looks like it just gave up the ghost. Hope you were wearing your brown pants when it went kaboom!

    Replied!

All damage was inside/underside of the deck. I was more worried about starting a fire. I was about 200yds from the house.
It happened in the same area where last year I went over some ground wasps.
Little bastards got me good. I took revenge later that night.

Did you just dump water on it?

Gotta get the hi pressure garden hose & spray at it like rain would at 60mph.

Any of you have experience with eradicating mice from the engine compartment? My wife's CR-V spent the summer un-used at camp Manitowish with my daughter. Seems to have an infestation. Nothing in the air box or inside. Set traps but don't hold much hope...

    3 schools of thought on mice;

    moth balls
    dryer sheets
    peppermint oil on cotton balls

    or
I used to use black kat bait boxes comes three to box in my lawn tractor spread around motor so I didn't have to remove mouse houses every spring.

You can borrow my mutts for a weekend

Both are Miniature Pinscher mixed with Chihuahua.

Surprisingly the smaller one has the most kills. The big one just thinks they are chew toys and has to have them taken away. Worked for my parents and my in-laws. Haven't had to deal with it at our place just yet.

Must be nice. :rofl:About 10 years they were going to repave a road I take everyday its a 2 mile stretch. They ended up ripping it out and they never paved it so it was a soft gravel road that wash boards like crazy because its not the right material to be driven on. This road needed to be extra thick or something because a lot of heavy farm trucks use it but they got a 1.1 million dollar grant to actually pave it but they decided not to do it. Thankfully though this year they at least put the right type of gravel down for a dirt road so its a lot smoother at least. It is still really dusty so I do end up washing my truck weekly to keep it clean but hey, that's the cost of living in the country.

With any luck they got cooked or eradicated themselves during the move.
Relocating them took them away from their known food source. They'll be looking for food now or they'll starve.

Traps with some peanut butter would lure those hungry buggers out.
I'm a x2 on moth balls working to keep mice away.
Never used the sticky adhesives. We have them at work and they attract crickets.

If you want to get real high tech, there's some sonic pulse gadgets for underneath the hood.
I've never used them but I have used similar 'in ground' ones for moles. They work.

    There's my 3:30 a.m. rodent analysis.

Idler pulleys. Kinda small and seemingly innocuous. The Toyota versions in the second gen are unsealed-the bearings get washed etc. Thus, they don't last-especially in an Arkansas, creek rich environment. Went and ordered the whole set yesterday, Holy monkeybone are they expensive-most of $500 for the set (although for the tensioner you have to buy the whole assembly...) Let you in on how big a PIA they are to change next week.

It was a long time ago and a different engine, though the biggest PITA I remember is all the stuff that had to be removed just to get to it.

If I don't need to do the whole tensioner, its all accessible from the bottom... I'll believe it when it happens that way.

I looked at it when mine needed it this year, then I decided to just pay the man. Most things are easy and easy to get to, that one looked like a real pain.

    So. Many. Stickers.
On the 1GR, pop the grille, remove the radiator (2 bolts, two hose clamps, and a guide) and voila you have approximately 100m^3 of space to work with. :D
