Turned my truck on this morning and turned on the AC. After a few seconds, this awful squealing noise can be heard from the engine bay. The noise stops when I turn off the AC. My guess is the clutch for the AC (hoping it’s not the compressor). Never had any issues with the AC blowing cold. Truck sat for a few days while I was on vacation and no issues prior.

Tomorrow I will see if I can manually move the clutch with my hand/watch it turn on. Tried posting a video of the noise but there’s an error. Noise coming from belt area.

    thanks

I recently had the same thing. A pop followed by squealing and the AC light flashing. Turned out the compressor had seized. $3200 later I had AC again. Hope yours is the clutch.
