Upgraded from the flimsy steel off-road skid plate to the Pro model. Little bit of a pain in the ass to do it by myself. Had to balance the new skid plate on floor Jack and line up the holes. One I got one bolt in, it went pretty smooth.

Those are very light duty towing shacles, for pulling truck on/off the delivery truck or if you are pulling the truck on FLAT road with no resistance. They have welds or a couple of small bolts tying then to a crossmember instead of into the frame.

This is a front towing/recovery that ties into the frame: https://store.arbusa.com/recovery-point-2823010/

no, what was installed is a decorative-only 'nipple ring' shackle mount. they're held on with one bolt, and will have an approximately 200 pound max load rating. they're enough for a medium dog tie-off, but absolutely nothing for vehicle recovery, unless one is recovering 1/8 scale r/c vehicles...

Do recovery hooks actually fit in that hole on the ABS, looks small in the picture?

That is not a small thing. People sometimes complain about $300 but it is all "some kind of steel". AND that ARB is one of the few aftermarket front tow-points that publishes its rating instead of just some "use at your own risk" warning ("Demon Hooks" come to mind as examples to avoid).

And ... I forgot ... it is designed to fall back-and-away in case of front impact so it does not twist the front frame and make things worse.

Thanks, hard to tell scale in the image. Coincidentally ordered one yesterday but that thought was in my mind.

Take those shackles off and return them to Amazon.

I used a bungee strap to hold the skid plate. Worked like a charm.

I heard that the 4th gen trd skid has slots that allow it to be held up on its own.
