1st Gen Haltech ECU Discussion

Just factory wiring. The only upgrade I made was from the body to the ground terminal. I'll just add a 4AWG whip from the block to the body point (~2 feet)

 

Do you think that effects what voltages the haltech ecu sees and reports?

 

I'm sure affects anything with an engine ground, though I'm not versed enough to have that list.

I just rechecked though and it's sitting at 1.5ohms from the intake manifold to the battery terminal. I think I was probing MAF ground to battery before possibly? Since I was probing the resistance network. That's 2.5ohm now. Still kind of a lot on both but not as shocking. Starter might benefit from adding a jumper still.

 

I was watching the ScanGauge and the computer today for the CTS and the Scanguage is consistently 60° off so knowing that I can watch it without the computer and have a pretty good idea of the temperature is

 

If you have any corrections tied to coolant temp, they may be affecting the fueling and timing. Is the CTS showing higher or lower than actual?

 

I think he means that it's showing wrong on his stock computer side not on the haltech side

 

Speedy is right, sorry for the confusion. Everything shows correct in NSP I just wanted to have a close estimate of the coolant temp without making my wife hold the laptop.

 

@Speedytech7 I was doing some calcs to help me figure out what gearing/tire setup I want to pursue and I know you have a manual so a little different, but the napkin math shows you could be slipping soon with an empty bed. I don't remember your exact gearing or dyno torque though

 

It wouldn't surprise me. I'm on mudterrains too so I would actually expect it to slip a little earlier at least on pavement. If there's even a slightest bit of moisture or anything altering the traction surface though it instantly lights them both up, in 4wd in winter I got a good full sideways launch just because it was below freezing and I dared to matt it haha.

 

Anyone had any brake booster issues or failures? Mine just went out and wondering if I should have had a check valve in there

 

No, but I do have a check valve.

 

Anything special? Think I have a cheap aluminum one in the parts box I can throw on the new one

 

The nipple that goes into the brake booster actually is a check valve. But that said mine has been getting weaker for years it doesn't hold vacuum as long as it used to when the engine's off anymore, it might have just been it's time

No not yet. I got as far as running a wire for the pwm through my harness for it.

That's not good, hopefully you noticed fast.

 

Honestly not sure how much I lost. It was a moderate leak when I caught it in the driveway and I've been getting even lower mileage than normal so it's possible I've lost like a gallon over half the tank
