don't feel too bad, it's still a skip-a-size socket set.

i've had this in my to-buy Amazon pile for a little while. it's cheaper at normal price than the genuine milwaukee skip-a-size set.

global economy. and my wages haven't kept up with inflation for the past 10 years.

i prefer to get cheaper, and if i blow up a socket, i'll get a nicer replacement for that specific size--that's my indication that i use that one too much. otherwise, non-damaged sockets mean they're either good enough, or i don't use them enough. either way, i can save significant money not buying everything for 11/10th's that don't need it. maybe i'll even be able to buy myself lunch this week!

 

I've done exactly this.

Have a few ratcheting wrenches and nice sockets in specific sizes; had I bought an entire set I would've spent a lot more and end up with sizes I'd never use.

 

My M12 Surge Impact driver died on me today while working on a deck. Purchased in July 2023. Filed a service/warranty claim with Milwaukee and shipped it back for replacement/repair.

Had my older non Surge Impact driver for a backup.

 

That sucks!

It happens. Glad I had the other (purchased in 2020) as a backup.

They've taken care of me in the past. Pretty impressed with the turnaround time on repairs/replacements.

Was eyeing that ratchet kit posted above but I must resist the urge to buy more shit, and I kinda want to hold out for the long reach

i dunno m12 seems like far too small of a platform for most cutting action.

i really prefer the 18v stuff for things like this.

unless you're just planning on using it for trim?

 

Generally I agree. But I use that M12 quite often. Primary on 3/4 stock. It really shines up on ladders or in tough to access locations when you need to pry off some trim and cut out a bad section for repair.

 

Absolutely second this, the best specific usage tool I no longer have was a early 2010's Mikita 12v 3-3/8 circular saw.
