Hi Dave, installed Toyota OEM led headlights with your harness. I am sure it’s something I did wrong but my taillights aren’t working. All functions of headlights work great. Brake lights also work just no taillights when headlights are on. 2022 Tacoma TRD Off Road v6 4x4 access cab. Can you point me in the right direction? Appreciate your help. Thanks

Rear Turns or parking lights? I assume reverse is fine too.

Reverse lights are working fine. I didn’t think to check the turns. I’m assuming when you say parking lights you mean with truck in park and headlights turned on do I have tail lights…no I do not. I was not expecting your quick response and have turned in for the night. I will check the turns and report back first thing tomorrow morning.

And front parking lights work properly? Sidemarker is on?

tails are halogen bulbs? License plate lights on or off?

IMG_4904.jpg Passenger side single wire leftover. Good morning Dave. The turn lights are working as they should at front and rear of truck. I do not see a front parking light working and no license plate light is working. I’m hoping I just connected it wrong. Pics of my wiring on the way. IMG_4902.jpg Passenger side

If your plate lights are out, blown parking light fuse, it’s 15A inside the can I believe.

Driver low beam looks good. Passenger high beam definitely good. Driver high beam is hard to see but I think correct polarity. Passenger low beam also hard to see but looks correct as well.

The sidemarker caps are irrelevant and turn / DRL connectors are impossible to mess up.

Summary, stalk set to low beams and no plate lights? That definitely points to a blown fuse. Remotely possible there is a short in one of the headlights but that would be crazy rare. If you want to be certain, disconnect the 4 position (3 wires pinned) DRL connector on both headlights, replace the parking light fuse, turn the stalk on, verify rear parking lights, then connect front side 1 and 2 while observing. If one side causes the circuit to blow the fuse, that’s your clue. But I really don’t think that’s likely. Though I also don’t know how you could have blown the parking light fuse in the first place.

Ok Dave I will try this and see what happens. It’s possible the tail lights were not working before this and I never noticed. My drivers side headlight has been busted for months and exposed to the weather so hopefully fuse was blown before. I will try these things and get back to you. Thanks for the help

That could explain it. If water shorted the halogen sidemarker bulb then that blew the parking light fuse and you didn’t drive at night or notice, then you have a clean explanation of the root cause. Definitely possible. Or the impact shorted it inside the headlight by compressing things or shredding wire.
