Long story short, I did the 12-15 update on my 08, And everything went fine except for the largest piece, which is the hood. I ended up buying a super cheap Chinese food and I have had nothing but trouble with it. At this point, I think I'm basically going to throw away 600 bucks and just have the entire thing redone, but I'm unsure of which hood I should go with now. I'm assuming oem so that I can avoid any potential problems, but where is the best place to find an OEM hood?
I see a few places locally that says I can order one for about 400 bucks picked up but I see tons of dealers and eBay sellers selling factory hoods for 800 bucks and above. What's the deal?

If anyone knows a place in LA where I can pick up a factory hood for a good price, please let me know.

The $400 ones locally are probably unpainted too just a thought.

Finding an undamaged hood is almost impossible I think, at the junkyard.

Ask a body shop if they can try make the hood that you got now fit.

Might be cheaper than going with a whole new one. New OEM from the dealer is going to be un painted so gonna have to DYI or pay someone to paint it on top of the cost to get it. Ebay unless its a dealer no promises

Yeah I thought about that, but on top of the fitment it now has paint issues that the body shop swears are because of the aftermarket quality. I kind of just want to get it over with even though it's going to be a massive hit to the wallet.

    Facebook marketplace, car-part.com, Craigslist…

someone is always parting out a vehicle. I got one of my doors off marketplace. They had a hood too. If it was a scoop hood I would have bought it
