Ah, the Tamiya kit is one of these. Very old school, and it brings back nightmares of my childhood. (I had zero talent for a Revel kit, but many horrible attempts.) At least this is snap and screw instead of snap and glue. I always hated glue. :cookiemonster:

    PXL_20240820_013228783.jpg

I got too excited and burned through about half of the chassis build in a night, including a pretty impressive limited slip diff for a kids toy. There are lots of tiny parts (I count 9 sheets of plastic injection trees and five bags of hardware) and a weird hodgepodge assembly for what should have been a fairly simple frame. It's like these guys have an IKEA fetish. Yeah, I'm not going to lie, I'm really digging it.

Hopefully by end of week I'll start masking and painting.

Okay this thing is fun as fuck.

I keep him in training mode for now. I love that it's a tool I can use to teach him about when to use high and low range as well as when to activate lockers and what they do.

Now I just need to get mine!

My TRX4M suspension is driving me crazy. I have the 59mm Injora suspension and just get can't it right. Any combination of oil / springs is either too stiff or too soft. Any tips?

What issue / improvement are you trying to chase? Are you changing things 1 at a time or all at once?

I've been chasing them independently for a while and have gotten to the point of all at once, lol

The setup is perpetually too stiff (so that the suspension doesn't compress properly) or too soft (so that it compresses fully and won't go back to proper height)

Feels like an endless loop of battling no flex vs no rebound

Springs are tricky, you usually have to give up one thing for another. Oil I don't see really helping either since it's job is damping. With a soft spring setup you could run a higher weight to mask the softness, but it would counter again on the return. Can you run dual springs on those shocks? If you can you could get away with a little more on what you're going for.

Not sure how I'd run dual springs, I know it's an option but trying to keep it relatively simple

The oil seems to have helped in certain circumstances but I've found that over-filling by even the tiniest amount just makes for too much resistance when the shock is compressing
