Hey guys, decided I wanted to move to some pizza cutters in the future for my 4 pot and knew I’d be chopping/pulling the plastic wheel well covers so I wanted to get ahead of the dust problem and get a snorkel.

Curious enough, the 4bangers seemed to have a stock snorkel-like intake tube hidden in the wheel well:

Airflow seems a bit better than stock, but I’m just happy to have the peace of mind.

Its a resonator not a snorkel, i removed mine as well that is only on the 2.7's. My placebo effect says its more free flowing but who really knows, i added one of those trd accelerators in its place

I agree its not really a snorkel, but I thought it was interesting that the 2.7 gets a higher intake than the V6. I still have a leftover "accelerator" from my 2016 in the garage.

Yeah its odd the best research i could find is that its a resonator, has to be something with the 2tr. if you havent already i remove the charcoal filter on the top of the airbox. I have a drop in afe as well, i do not notice any real additional noise with that resonator removed.

Bout as straight of a shot of air as you can get now, I think.

Be ready for a whole world of clean air now. I saw such a drastic change once I installed mine. However it picks up bugs like no tomorrow with that head. Rain never really saw an issue but snow will work it's way into the air box through that head all day. So this spring I swapped on a snorkel upgrade pre filter and it has solved every nit pick I had and it makes cool noises. Who can argue with another level of I take protection.

After that incident with my second gen these things just act as another level of cheap insurance on the engine for when an oops happens.

So now the third gen is well protected

No snow to worry about down here in South Florida, but a whole lot of water, mud, and BUGS. Got a link to that attachment?

Can the head rotate 180*? I mean you're not trying to make ram air, and that would reduce water/particulate intake. Like when you follow someone in a dust bowl

So a rotated head is actually worse off in dust due to how the head design is. It creates a low pressure pockets that the dust settles in and then is sucked into the intake. Instead of being forced to the back of the intake head and drained out the flutes on the side. This works great for water and dust untill the bugs clog the flutes.

This is the pre cleaner I went with.
