I was in fact offered a buyout for the truck. Except it came in about $5k short for what was paid to the truck. I would only get $10k back in cash and my trade in alone was $13k in equity, plus the $2500 I paid out of pocket. Argued over this with the regional rep and I would be out the difference, so doesn't seem like the option I'd take.

At this point I am just going to see when the parts come in. The ETA got pushed to September 5th. So I am not confident on when it'll be in. I have sent in my requests for compensation, all of which should be approved and if it drags out for longer then I'll demand some more.

Hire an attorney and peruse lemon law. Legally in most states a buy back is Toyota takes the truck back you get back every dime you spent to purchase the truck.

Most manufactures will offer a crappy deal at first to try and get away without losing money. Toyota is trying to work you.

Lol, going from a Golf R to pretty much anything else I would imagine feels "floaty". I hopped in my gf's 90's ES300 over the weekend and the disconnection from the road was practically unsettling

If I wanted them to take the truck back and lemon it, then I would. Still is not the route I want to go yet.

It sounds like Toyota is taking pretty good care of you so far other than parts delays.

23 F-150 here no recalls... yet! I can't pretend the build quality is great. I saw this week Ford recalled 20-22 Explorer Intecptor(only) for possible engine fire, and a small number of Transits for an improper screw on the steering components.

I thought it was about 15 transmissions and like someone pointed out. 100k sold is very very low numbers. Just seems like 6 or so are on this site. I am sorry for those whose went. I do feel like the 24 is getting a bad name but I think mines the best Tacoma out of the 6 I have owned

There's more not here on the 4G site and FB group with reported failures.

This has me wondering if it's more than debri left behind from manufacturing? Machining debri being the culprit is believable although coincidental to the Tundra engine problem.

I don't think the 4G is a bad truck, these manufacturer issues aren't helping Toyota.

    FYI, just some input...
I diidnt read the 8 pages..
Just sharing my experiences as a 30+ year engine tech at ford..
When theres a new redesign / new release & theres failures....
Alot of times the engineers want the entire transmission or engine back so they can further investigate whats really going on...
After they first hand do a teardown, evaluate things & what-not, then TSb"s are released...
Stating if you have this or that concern, we've determined that we nolonger need the assy back & to replace this & that part....

I made the switch to a Sierra 1500 with no regrets. My 2010 Prerunner was one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned but I did not want to get the first couple years on the 4G. As with most OEM's, Toyota quality has been questionable the last couple of years. Not to mention ongoing paint concerns. If you make a switch, I would consider extended warranties if you keep you vehicles past the factory warranty period.

You can’t for 30 days anyway. When you hit that mark, you’d be crazy not to.

Lets say even if its 50 which I don't think its that many out of 100k so 1 in every 2000 is 0.0005% I know it sucks for the people that it has happened to but those numbers are super low

But again no one knows how many. You tube and forum posts are not anywhere close to a good source of data.

Guessing at failure rates to try and tell us it's not a big deal is truly pointless.

It could be 50, it could be 500, it could be 5000. No one knows except Toyota

Right and the idea we are even sitting here like oh 50 transmission failures, no big deal.

I worked on them & ford isnt making ANYTHING reliable these days,
Only thing I dont work-on is the gT mustang...
Yes, issue is I only see the bad....
Helps me sleep at night, but I get it, at this point Toyota may not be any better than ford when it comes to the reliabilty dept with the release of this new 4 cyl motor in the redesigned tacoma...

Ford cant build a 4 cylinder turbo motor that doesnt eventually start experiencing coolant intrusion...
& its NEVER just a head gasket, its always the shortblock that needs to be replaced..
If that makes any sense to those that somewhat know what end of the screwdriver to hold...

I dont want an f150 at this point, to big & more than I want to spend..
Dont want a fullsize bronco even though I think they look cool, 4x4, cost, problematic powerplant...
Ranger is just ugly to me, I dont like the roundness to the body design, its just too busy & not in a good way.
    Droving experience is nothing special.

Doesn’t have to be 30 days mandatory. I complained about my air conditioning issue two times, each time they had the vehicle for less than two days. One time was unable to duplicate, second time was normal characteristic. Then the pain issues…
It states in the guidelines of the law, unreasonable amount of times, that could be interpreted in many different ways.
Everybody states that three times for the same concern is the magic number, obviously in my situation that wasn’t the case
