Hey I just got my 2024 Tacoma trd sport and love it. Took it out today to go paddle boarding. Plugged my pump into the left cigarette lighter port it lit
Up and powered on but as soon as I started it it shut off.

the 2 usb c plugs also no power. Bed lights up still and the outlet on the passenger side works. So just that one panel.
    Everything else works.
I tried checking fuses or seeing which fuse it would be.

I have an appointment with the dealer but thought if it was a quick fix I’d try it out first.
    Thanks.

Open your owners manual and do a little reading on what fuse would cover that.

Pumps suck a lot of juice so it's little wonder it popped.

if this outlet can’t handle the pump but the internal plug can, and My old civic and Kia plug could that’s insane that a brand new truck bed outlet can’t. Not saying it’s not possible but that would have to be an insanely underpowered external outlet that idk what the point of it would be. I’ll have to ask the dealer about it I guess. Thanks

hmm yea i think just an appointment with the dealer. I checked the fuses and didn’t see a blown one unless I missed something.
Thanks. Yea have an appointment tomorrow morning. Hopefully it’s a quick fix because I don’t have a lot of free time tomorrow.

it would be crazy to think it can’t support the pump right? I mean the internal outlet did my
2 old cars did. It’s a truck most people would hookup things for “outdoor” stuff so hope it’s just a one off.

Wiring has gotten tiny nowadays. And fuses really protect wiring.

I personally like the pumps that you connect directly to the battery posts.

What amperage/wattage is the pump spec’d at?

The fuse in the bed is 7.5Amps while the one is the truck is 15 amps. The pump I’ve got for my paddle board appears to pull 12Amps which I discovered after blowing the 7.5A fuse… Even the little gasket on the fuse cover beside the 12V socket shows 7.5A on it.

I haven’t reached out to my dealer yet but I doubt you’d be able to put in a 15A fuse back there. Unless the fuse gets upped from the 7.5A, the bed 12V socket is basically useless for me.

    Hmmm.
I love my pump and it was pretty expensive. I’d hate to have to buy a new one. I wonder if an AC to DC ADAPPTER would be ok to than use the outlet on the other side.

and yea if my pump can’t use it idk what I’d even use it for. Most AC plugs are usually “outdoor” equipment

Ah life saver! Idk how I missed the fuse RIGHT next to the plug. I feel insanely dumb. Swapped it out and it’s working again.
Insane that popped it when it says 12v. I’m gonna look into a AC to DC converter since the outlet on the right side says way more power so I’d assume it can handle the paddle board pump. Right lol

That fuse specifically is not documented anywhere in the manual nor on any of the other fuse panels in the truck. It took me a while to notice the amperage rating on the cover as well.
It’s a bit of a shame it’s only a 7.5A fuse though, my previous vehicles could all handle the pump on the trunk 12V plug.

Yea I checked manuals. The digital book. YouTube videos. It’s so in plain site but missed it. Now I’m afraid to even use that for anything except the usb c.
I’m currently just on Amazon for an AC to DC converter because the right plug in the bed says 400w 100A (if I remember correctly, not at the truck) so a decent converter id hope could manage my paddle board pump.
Just glad I don’t have to go to the dealer tomorrow.
