Reason for no manual transmission in the long beds...I like the feel and the sound of the engine with the manual transmission but I'm to lazy to shift.

What makes you think the decision falls to engineering? Engineers deal with technical issues, not marketing/sales based decisions. This seems to not be obvious to everyone that engineers aren’t the only ones that make decisions that affect the final design of a product. If anything, we are the last ones in line and have to deal with designing around all the decisions that marketing, finance, safety, compliance, manufacturing, supply chain and a bunch of other groups make.

Ive been wondering about this ever since i was looking to buy taco. Payload is the same, its just a foot longer:notsure:

Seems like a lot of people actually prefer MT DC LB combo. DC LB off road in MT would be my dream truck. Unfortunately, i had to get DC SB sport , as it is the only 4 foor available in MT in canada.

I was shocked when i was told by dealers that there are no DC SB off roads in MT here. Wtf toyota?:der:

I have a camper so need a long bed. my '99 is hanging in there with 245k, but ready for an up grade. Can anyone comment on how the 2nd gen automatic do with a load and when your on the back roads in 4WD? And the 3rd gen sport access cab could work but I just have a mental block on anything with a fake air scoop.
