Mod: Temporary Door Chime Disable

That click is too quiet to be useful when really needed. On the highway when folks don't turn the wheel far enough to self-cancel.

So far without the speaker for at least 3yrs now, I've only forgotten the turn signal twice, which I would not have heard with the speaker still there. Beyond that, long stoplights are unexpectedly better. Never realized how annoying turn signal clicks are. Haha!

It definitely prevents you from locking your keys in the truck...
Mostly use it for the drive-in

 

If you have a key version, it is even easier, just separate the steering column cover and unplug a two wire connector that is at the bottom of the key cylinder. The chime isn't from the door, but from the key reminder system that chimes if you left the key in the ignition.

 

Not sure what you're trying to say, but pink is for the rear door. You need the yellow wire for the driver's side door.

The few times I’ve used accessory mode all the noise and dash warning lights made me just start it instead.


In my company’s 21 Silverado you can open the door and turn on the radio without the key in the ignition, itll turn off after about 20 mins….it is a cool feature; also the cig lighter port stays on all the time.

 

Doesn’t a warning show up on the dash/center display about the signal being on???
…..or I might be thinking of my work truck.

 

I think Caribe is trying to say that butt connectors like that are trouble prone and will fail eventually.
He also shows the part number for the connectors to do the same thing plug and play which looks and acts stock.

Very impressive knowledge Okkine 2.0. I couldn't dream of doing your chime fix without some sort of global electrical disaster that would probably cost lots of time/ money. That said, as someone mentioned, if you are a little creative, in about fifteen minutes you can permanantly push the chime button at the driver door and never have to be annoyed by it again. That's been my best 'cheap' mod on my Tacoma. That chime was killing me. Also, I made it so if I sell the truck I could easily remove the 'mod'.

 

Oh! I was actually trying to find various connectors for this truck a few months ago, but didn't have much luck. I really don't like cutting factory wires...

If I recall, I found some part numbers in the wiring diagrams, but couldn't find anyone who sells the ones I wanted. May I ask where you buy them?

Pushing the rubber covered switch near the door latch silences the chime on my ‘17 DCSB OR. Maybe it’s an original hecho en Mexico taco thing?

 

I believe those are Toyota Part Numbers that you can order at any dealer.
Yeah, Caribe knows these trucks extremely well.
