    So Rad!!!

For a review, I threw a Wolfbox digital mirror on mine since my tent blocks the mirror, its my favorite Mod I have done to the truck.

Got some pics and a video of it opened up. I threw my carpet kit back in it for the moment. I need the room in my garage. I put the hood struts a bit further back because I didn't want the mounts facing forward with the way I drive their sure to catch on something.
    20240730_001637.jpg
A quick walk around and climb into the camper. Man if the carpet kit didn't weight so muck I'd keep it.

If made out of aluminum and abs plastic paneling I bet a carpet kit could work out.

or since the extruded sticks are not cheap, buy an inverter mig welder with a spool gun for aluminum or a AC/DC tig welder and make it out of regular angle and flat stock.

I was watching that video last night. The price of the 8020 wasn't to bad . I think I'm looking at 150 for the sticks I need and probably and 100 for all the fastners.
I have an idea sketched out that I'm working on refining. But think next week when I'm off I'm gonna pull the carpet kit and do some test fitting of what I want to carry. Just to make sure my #'s are right. I need a bench to step onto to make getting in bed easier.

When you say carpet kit, do you mean that whole platform thing back there? It def looks heavy.
Flipac looks awesome! Nice score! Those are hard to find in good condition these days. How's the fabric holding up. Seems that the fabric and the hinge are what gives out on those older tents.

Yeah the carpet kit is a 6 piece wood foam and carpet. Its served me well but all that wood is definitely heavy.
Thanks on pretty happy about it ,its in really good condition . There are some wear marks on the canvas around the hinges but no holes.the hinges look good. I'll probably look at getting the torsion bar changed out as a preventive measure.
I really just need to get out and use it and see what's needed..

Here's a ruff sketch of what I'm thinking about for the back. It's centered around water storage in the front and a small set of drawers at the back . It will be attach it to the bed rails and the bottom of the bed.
The plan is to relocate my battery to the bed and add a second. This should give me some room to stash stuff,be a nice step to the bed and a place to sit if need be.
I'm open to suggestions . There's a couple of places where I'm not sure if I need the bracing.
    20240808_004904.jpg
This is the water and battery positions, there will be 1 more 11L and no gas won't be stored there it was just handy for visualization.

    Chris,

Can you snap a photo standing at the tailgate, looking into the bed, towards the back of the bed?

    Thanks.

First is with the old shell but it's empty

This one ,the stuff is where I think things are going to land.
    20240807_213421.jpg
I can get one with the new shell without anything in the bed if you want.

How attached are you to the idea of using those individual water containers? Do you have any desire to duplicate a setup like mine, with the actual water tank up near the cab in the bed? You have the clearance due to where your wheel wells are, and you will be able to hold more (or the same amount) of water in a smaller footprint. Going with a second battery anyways means running a pump won't be as big of a hassle.

    Just an idea.

I'm not opposed to it. And I'd like the extra room.
I was going with the 2 separate tanks so i could adjust how much water i was bringing and flexibility of refilling, i planning on using a pump with the septer can as well.

    So a small update,
Sold the shell and carpet kit. Got a little side by side shot. It was bitter sweet to see them go they served me well on many adventures. I think I had it just about diled it too.

Took the truck to a local fab shop. They do good work and are super close to my house and they had availability. Had them pull the pack and cycle the suspension. According to them it was bumped correctly. They were acomadating enough and let me come over to have a look at everything blown apart. And we're it sat the leafs were just starting to invertand the bump was touching the lowered bumpstop. They were suggesting getting more lift or longer shackels to accommodate more travel. But they also stated that the truck was coming off of the lift when they tried to raise it any more. So I had them put it back together. After thinking on it for a bit and called them back and had them lower the lower shock mounts anyways. They weren't overly enthused abut it but they ended up angling the the mount down a few degrees past center giving me about a extra 1 1/2" of shock shaft. I think when loaded down it will have the shock in a better position to actually valve the ride a bit. I've pushed the spring into the bumps a lot more than what they were showing.

The before were the tabs were angled
    20220217_102556.jpg
I knink I need to just go spring under or linked the back. Lol

Coming back from taco Tuesday had the miss hold the phone to record the new noises the intake makes . We weren't nessarly on the same page of how the phone should be held but we managed in the end. I feel like it pulls a little better on the upper rpm's . If the windows are down it's louder than the airaid pipe that I had before but with the windows up its a bit quieter. I think it's beacouse you and hear it coming out the snorkel now
