Track and field is the highlight for our family always. Such a fun sport where it doesn’t seem to have too many hard feelings between competitors. My track days and my boys track days are some of my fondest memories. That said intensity of wrestling is also fun. It just draws emotions that sometimes seem too much.

The surfing has been good. Teahupo'o is a beast even in small-medium conditions. That reef is sharp af and barely 4 ft under the water

Yesterday after Morroco wiped the floor with the US men's soccer team they switched over to men's volleyball. It was actually pretty fun to watch. The Japanese team was holding their own against the US team despite being way smaller in comparison. The momentum was swinging both ways, they weren't going to let the American guys win that easily

I was laughing because the olympic village is a solid meh. It's a party town, but it's cardboard beds, no A/C, one pillow, a rack in the corner of the room as a "closet". The US Mens basketball team rented out an entire floor of a hotel with their own money.

The surfers are kipped up in resort hotels on Tahiti

Yeah we've been keeping up. We caved and got the peacock thing - worth it! We were forced to watch swimming and gymnastics for so long, and it was a solid meh. They showed the last 30 seconds of a rowing race and then went back to an empty pool and talking about swimming.

Got peacock and man there's some COOL STUFF at the olympics! Surfing, speed climbing, canoe racing and slalom, bouldering, BMX park and racing, etc - all stuff that is just ignored for empty pools and gymnastics. Shenanigans. Turns out the olympics are pretty cool when you can actually watch the things.

I won't lie, watching France sweep the podium for mens BMX racing was really freakin cool.

It was party city after that, champagne flowing, celebrations, and then....They told the women "Okay now you go"

We're still catching up. We have a bunch of stuff added to the watch list online. We haven't even watched the opening ceremony yet :p

But we watched surfing and diving (among others). Surfing announcers are great, even when a surfer divebombs and has a terrible wave, the announcers still hype them up. The diving announcer was an olympic diver and she was absolutely BRUTAL on the diver, super harsh. Nobody did anything good, so it was hilarious flipping between them. Skating was similar, everything was hyping them up, "OH NOOOO!" when they wiped out, etc.

Diver flubbed? "Oh that was terrible, she should not have done that"
