What does it mean when I pull out a plug and it's wet around the base ring?

Is this an easy DIYer job?

Only the back plug closest to the windshield on drivers side came out wet like that. Truck does have 130k miles, though.

Can't speak on behalf of 2nd Gen. But 99%
With basic hand tools you can do it.
Check out a few YouTube videos on 2nd gen valve cover how tons.
I've worked at a few Ford dealers in my 20's

Do it yourself, and save your money.

Drivers side should only take you hour and ahalf. Take pictures as you go to make reassembling it easier.
    Check out a few videos.........

With all those heat-cold cycles, the gaskets harden and/or crack. Mine have made it to 200K and I am seeing some seepage around passenger-side valve covers. Lots of stuff to move but looks doable. Last one I did was on daughter’s 06 Camry I4 with about 170K. That was easy peasy, a 20-min job.

Is this something that must be done, or more of an OCD thing?
