At the dealership doing my 15000 mile oil change, got a chance to sit in a 4th gen TRD. Won’t lie to you all, seats were way more comfy, seating position was much better, all in all seemed to be a nice comfy truck.

    But..

When my oil change was done they parked my truck right next to the 4th gen.. I compared the two from a distance and took a pic of the two.. I still think the 3rd gen’s look better and at the end of the day I still love my 23 TRD Sport 6MT and so glad I got the last year of the V6 with the 6MT. Guess I can live with the less comfy seats! To me the 4th gen’s just look too robo-truck like , kinda like a mini Tundra. And let’s not talk about the price they were asking on that one! ($47k) IMG_0690.jpg

Everyone keeps parroting that it looks like a Tundra, when in my opinion, it bears a far greater resemblance to the Colorado.

That’s a whole lot of typing just to wind up saying you’re too poor to afford nice stuff.

Let them iron out the issues. The 2026 model should be a good one.

That stretched out, pre-dented, droopy 4th gen front-end looks ridiculous. CAD gone all wrong.

    PS

Lose that hideous 3rd gen chin spoiler, OP.

I think they're both nice looking trucks. I'm not a fan of turbos on gas engines, and I love my 3rd gen, but I wouldn't be too broken up to have either one in my driveway. I also liked the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern movie....so there's that. My wife says I'm too easy-going, lol.

I checked one out today too. They changed the back seat configuration in the double cab and I think the storage is reduced. The seat bottom lifts backward now.

The 2023 is a nicer looking truck. The '24 is over styled a bit (IMO) to the point that even a Heritage Grille can't rescue it. The fake air scoops under the headlights are the icing on the cake and would stick out even if they were color-keyed to the body. Speaking of which, the blacked out fender flares add nothing. Are they trying to hide the too-small tires and rims? It doesn't work: They should be color-keyed. (see 3rd-gen on the left) :pccoffee:

Nah... nice try but a little arrogant trying to guess my financial position. My “nice stuff” is my 2023 TRD 6MT and I paid cash for it, all $41.5k. If I really wanted a 4th gen I’d pay cash for it too. Dave Ramsey disciple all the way brother. Just pointing out my opinion that the 4th gen’s coulda looked a bit nicer and they are too pricey for what they do and how they look… it’s still a midsize at the end of the day. Had they kept the price in the upper 30s/low 40s for a TRD sport or OR like the 3rd gen’s I think it would be a slam dunk. And that 4 cylinder turbo… epic fail. They shoulda kept the V6. Cheers bud

One thing I noticed about the 4th gen seat I sat in (cloth, offroad) was that the bolsters were taller, but the foam was crazy soft so they weren't actually supportive. makes me wonder if the seat will be more comfy initially but lose support over time.

The seats were super comfy for me, as was the seating position. Miles ahead of the 3rd gen, they totally got that right. But I keep reading about transmission issues (in the 4 th gen forum)… no clue how the reliability factor will be long term. For now I’m sticking with my ‘23 as long as I can, I do feel they’ll hold their value really well due to them being the last gen of the V6. I just like the look of the 3rd gen much better, just my personal opinion. I did tell the salesman that God forbid if mine gets totalled I’d be looking real closely at a 4th gen TRD 6MT.. I think they’re a bit cheaper. so don’t count me out yet!

And this is precisely why I bought one of the final years of the 3rd gens!

I’ll only consider 4th-gens when the 5th-gen spy-shots start getting released and Toyota has finished years of 4th gen updates, redesigns, and recalls.

I wonder if the 4th gen seats will bolt onto the 3rd gen…

Heh the Taco is long since paid off, and it was at 0% interest when the going interest rate was about 3% for cash deposits, so I think I got the better end of that deal than forking over the cash.

That said, if the 3g taco died and I needed another truck, I'd look into the 4th gen, but would likely just hold off and get a cargo trailer for the Rav, and just not wheel for a bit and stick to the nicer NF roads. I did sit in the 4th gen and it's 'aight' I guess, feels like a Taco but a little nicer than the 3rd, mostly.
