Team Tacoma, I have a 2006 TRD with 205,000 km on it. Recently the check engine light came on, I filled it with gas and checked the gas cap, it went off for a day then came back on. I was told to take the battery cables off the battery and it would reset- did that, it stayed off for two days but now back on again- any suggestions?

I hate bringing it to the dealership for such!! any tips or has anyone had this issue and fixed it.

If the check engine light is on you should be able to take it to an auto parts store and have them use their code reader on it for free. Or you could pick up your own for pretty cheap. Without knowing the code, there isn't much we can do to help.

When you retrieve the code post in the 2nd Gen forum, because that's what you have. You should get more specific results there.

Where in Canada are you. I can possibly help you out live if you're in Northern Alberta. Otherwise you have to get the codes scanned somewhere. The light is basically just telling you there is a code stored. It doesn't just have one meaning
