Looking to give my truck some love and continue its streak of reliability for many more miles

    Details:

    2010 Tacoma double cab
    TRD Sport
    1GRE-FE 4.0
    293,000 miles

    looking to get/replace the following:

    Full gasket kit
    Full timing chain kit
    Oil pump
    Water pump
    Thermostat

All parts used will be genuine Toyota replacements from YotaShop. My questions is, what am I missing? I need to have my head gasket replaced, so I figured I’d go full send and tackle all the big labor/engine items at once while the truck is in the shop. I’m also planning to have an Old Man Emu 2.5” lift installed as I need to have my coil overs rebuilt, my rear shocks replaced and my upper control arms anyway.

What else do you guys recommend, so I can tackle another 100-200k worry free?

    Thanks!

    All stock, baby!
All of the idler pulleys and the tensioner pulley (or just its bearing). Of course the alternator/AC compressor/PS pump may have tired bearings, but I’m not sure I’d suggest replacing them for that. Check ‘em when the belt is off, of course.

Change all of the fluids if they’re due.

Check the vent hoses attached to the 4WD actuators, especially the one at the transfer case.

Check/replace the diff breather. Better yet, do the relocation mod (easy).

Read through the 2nd gen maintenance guide in the stickies for some more ideas.

Stock (99.999%) OEM Bed Floor Mat, Front Bed Rail Cargo Net and hooks, Auto-Dim mirror w/Compass and outside Temperature display, TRD Pro Grille, Uni-Filter air pump modification, WeatherTech floor liners f/r. (winter) OEM All-Weather floor mats (summer).
Change the PCV and hose. Even if it's obvious that it has been done in the past, it's worth getting this done: now you have another base-line and it only costs about $30 for the parts, and no worries for 50,000 miles.

I did mine at 134,000. OEM and pretty certain it was the original. It wasn't plugged up, but it had a weak rattle and the hose was cracked on one end.

FWIW: I don't replace things like water-pumps, oil pumps etc as a preventative measure. If they are not leaking, growling, squeaky, or chirping.... leave them be. I would replace the tensioner though at that mileage.
