Got in the way of partying. I think my son was this >< close to telling her to GFY and driving off. WTF was wrong with me...I wasn't even drunk.

He's going to make some woman a good husband...as long as he's learning from his mother. His grandparents (her parents, mine were gone...) helped give a good foundation.

Well, she had gone to the hospital...leg is broken bad, spiral fracture of the right tibia, the head of which is shattered. The hospital told her they didn't have an Ortho surgeon, they could transport to Green Bay or she could find her own way. Her decision: go back to the party and have her son drive to pick her and her car up, then drive to her house to get her dog and then drive back to her mother's house until she could contact an Ortho surgeon tomorrow about surgery. My son and ex-MIL put on over 300 miles today.

On top of all that, I had to buy a bag of dog food because with the wheelchair and dog crate, there wasn't enough room in the car to bring the dog's food bin. Of course, she feeds some of the most expensive dog food known to man...and I had to go find it.

Rich, that woman is lucky to have you in her life. Even though she probably doesn't deserve your help, you're certainly setting a good example for your son.

You said exactly what I was thinking!

So, as we roll into September I have started working on logistics for the color run. I can get camp sites reserved as early as Wednesday if that helps-planning on dropping by Thursday and snatching up the lot. Know its early but a rollcall as we get closer will help.

I am planning a fun loop around the Bayfield peninsula closer to the camp site. There will be some tight and scratchy. There will be some nerve-wracking. There might even be a need for a winch and a tug (depending on the line you choose.) It will be a bit shorter day-thinking back to camp around 3-4pm so people can play in Bayfield. Saturday we will explore the Pine Barrons to the west of camp. Mostly roads or two track. Some tight and scratchy but should be relatively mellow. Will be spectacular! I have started mapping in Gaia and will share the routes once I have them firmed up with some more recon. Saturday will be the more spouse friendly. This will be different than last years Penokee dash. If you like it thank Carlos...

I will cook a fun meal Friday night for those who stay in camp-thinking Kung Pao chicken or some such.

Thanks, Pat! I threw up a preliminary poll just so we can get an idea of attendance.

I'm hoping to arrive Thursday evening at this point.

I have my semi-annual elephant gun shoot that Sunday. It is always the 1st weekend in Oct. Any thoughts on changing the Bayfield event to a different weekend in the future?

I'd be ok with it. I liked the idea of going to the festival in town, but we really haven't been doing that anyway. What are you thinking? Maybe a week later?

The only other thing I can think of would be the possibility we miss peak colors. :notsure:

James, I don't ever remember seeing pictures or posts about the peak fall colors, just great wheeling pictures!

The whole purpose for going that weekend has always been for peak fall colors. And they have been pretty awesome. That being said, I'm sure a week one way or the other could work too, it all depends upon the year.

You must not have looked at all of the pictures and posts, then. :notsure:

I originally picked that weekend because it looked like it would be the best weekend for viewing the fall leaves. I think it has worked pretty well more often than not. Although, this past year it seemed like a lot of the leaves had already fallen. Maybe a week earlier would actually be better.

Fortunately, we have plenty of time to decide for next year.
