I followed the DIY Wedge Camper thread for ideas. I wanted to make a build thread, but I'm horrible at stopping and taking photos along the way, it just takes so much time. I have a little bit on my truck build thread in my sig, I plan to add more details later on.

Frame is steel 14ga 1.5 square tube and 14ga 1x3 tube, welded and painted in satin black with matte clear. Panels are .125 alum sheet and wrapped in matte black. I drew everything up in Fusion360, sent files off to a local shop to cut and bend the panels and corner braces. Hinges are hurricane hinges from vintage trailer parts, rest of the hardware was ordered through mcmaster-carr. Roughly $2k into the build, but it's difficult to get a solid number for the actual cap because I bought extras of things, hardware comes by the box, went through a few different types of weatherstripping etc. Still far less than buying one, but a lot of time invested.

Thanks! It's from up north, Greenlane Offroad modular bumper. I was gonna go with a C4 hybrid or the Lo-Pro (with a viper cut) but the weight and having to deal with powder coating pushed me towards this. It's all aluminum and actually weighs less than the C4 Lo-Pro. Not as heavy duty as steel but it will serve my needs just fine.

Worth it. I got a dash cover, living in Florida, and it cuts glare, and reduces heat in truck.

I might try, heating from inside the tailgate may prevent burning too much paint off.

It must be the most important screw on the truck. Holds the whole package together. Without it every part of the truck completely falls off.

    Just contributing.

I got mine here, in 2022, it has all the cutouts for the auto dimmer and vents.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Saying you built it yourself and having it look so good is priceless!

Where can I get just this kind of piece to mount something on the bed rail? Clearly they come with accessories but can't find them or something similar stand alone.

I've had a Craftsman version for about 30 years or so, I love that thing, bought it to originally deal with all of the damn engine cover screws of old 70's Japanese motorcycles, and it's the go to for any screw that even looks like it'll be a pain to break loose.

Something like this might work: LABOR DAY 10% OFF SALE✮ (caliraisedled.com) I've also seen kits on Amazon, just search "Tacoma bed rail hardware kit"

I got a sticker and some cool valve stem caps...
Not bad. I'm sure there r better tires out there but for about $160 each, with the discount codes, I'm more than happy. I put them on the same time I leveled it with 5100's, so I can't give a complete just tire review. But they ride and steer well. They hold the road great and have had no issues with light off roading... my Dad loves them on my truck and is getting them for his F250.

I run them @ 31-32psi cold... for ride comfort. The stock wranglers I ran at 34. Again thou, I have the 5100's now

Thanks the Caliraised ones might work better for what I am doing. The Amazon ones the bolts are too big for the application I am attempting. Thanks a bunch.

I end up making everything work with the 7/32. One bolt to rule the bed.

Just installed a red push start because I kept pushing the 4x4 dial on startup. Ordered the blue knob because I was a little drunk. Kindof digging it so it’ll probably stay.
The 8ball was added the day after I brought it home.
