    Hey y'all,

    I’m currently new here. I got a 2020 Tacoma 2.7, 4 Cyl.

Right now there is an excessive wind noise coming from the engine bay. Whether it be wind noise or howling, I’m not sure. It seems as if the fan clutch is engaging 1:1 with the engine RPM. When I accelerate, the sound gets louder as well, especially at high RPM’s. Was told by a certified mechanic that it’s normal, but I feel like the sound is a little much to be normal. On a 75+ degree sunny day, this is usually the issue. I’ll take the truck to get a wash and cool it off, it’ll sound normal for a while till it gets all warmed up again. I’ve tried spraying the AC condenser, with the thought that it was probably clogged up and restricting air flow. But to no success. And all of this happens without overheating. I’ve had a 2016 Tacoma 2.7 in the past and have never had this issue. Currently defeated, can’t seem to find any info regarding this situation. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Also, I just had the fan clutch replaced a few days ago. Unfortunately, the issue still remains.

    Thank you !

Have you checked the tension of the drive belt? If the tension is good maybe spray some belt dressing and see if the volume changes.

Certainly sounds like the fan clutch is engaged, was the replacement clutch OEM?
It's normal for it to be engaged at startup but it should disengage after you drive a bit.

I know we've had some issues with some of the aftermarket ones not wanting to work properly.

Maybe Consider changing your thread title to reserve for those that are actually stranded and/or in need of emergency help. There are some around here that will help locals.

I took a look at it today. Seems to create a bit of slack when revving into the high RPM’s, not sure if that’s normal but I’ll check it out thoroughly. Thank you

Yes, the replacement was OEM. At least I think it is, picked it up from Advance Auto. So the truck was purchased used, currently at about 55k miles. When I had the previous clutch removed, I noticed that it was a bit thicker than the standard clutch I just picked up. Found that it looks similar to the heavy duty fan clutches, but even at that, it still had the same issue. Before and after the clutch replacement.
    Thanks

I swapped out my fan clutch recently and am experiencing the same thing. I plan to go back to an OEM fan clutch in the near future. The aftermarket clutch is staying engaged longer than the OE spec clutch is what you are hearing.

If you bought the clutch from an auto parts store and not from a dealer it’s unlikely to be OEM.
