Once the original mounting tape has been destroyed during de-badging, what would be the equivalent of factory quality tape (if "tape" is even the correct terminology) if one wanted to remount them?

    Some kind of 3M product?

3m extreme mounting tape, or 3m molding tape.

    this is the molding tape
    https://www.amazon.com/Super-Strength-Molding-Tape-03614/dp/B002JOVUO0

this is the extreme mounting tape
    https://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Extreme-Mounting-1-inch-60-inches/dp/B009NP1JQC/

they both have the same adhesive compound, biggest difference is that the mounting tape comes in 1" width, where the molding tape comes in various narrower widths from 1/8" up to 7/8", and also slightly less total per roll.

Great info. I had my truck painted and of course debadged. Now I’m going want to remount some. I had no idea what to use adhesive wise. Great information, thank you!

    3M VHB tape.

It's what my son usually tested against when he was formulating double sided adhesive tapes for the company he was working for.

Even he said 3M had some pretty good stuff. He could make better but the price wasn't competitive with 3M and the typical uses people wanted it for. [he formulates new coatings and adhesives and has a masters in it]

On the very plus side, I got to try out some pretty stupidly strong stuff he would formulate and some of it is FAR stronger then people imagine.
