It was a heck of a lot more relaxed than our last trip! Three nights in one location and one about 40 miles away was pretty easy...

Got married back in September, then left the post-wedding brunch early to get up to the eastern sierra for our brief "escape EVERYONE" honeymoon, which was fantastic. After so much coordination and talking with so many people it was so lovely to not have anyone around for a few days. With the success and amazement of our last trip to Sand Canyon, we decided to go back there for the trip.

Got to the start of the dirt road right before sunset

The start of the fall colors down low were promising...

It was already mostly dark when we hit the split for Wheeler Ridge so we just camped there instead of pushing the extra half-hour to the end. We had plenty of time the next day to get there, and we could enjoy the views!

And our day hike into the John Muir Wilderness was lovely! About 3-4 miles of mostly flat through beautiful scenery and past tiny lakes.

Plenty of winter migrants had already arrived

Our campsite lake, beautiful as always!

It was quite the chilly day, and overnight the clouds came in and brought a light dusting of snow to the surrounding mountains. The light rain persisted, making for some amazing dramatic clouds.

We were freaking out the whole time over the fall colors. Fire on the mountains!

And then my clutch pedal didn't come up off the floor... :censored: So we babied it down out of the rain to see the slave cylinder puking fluid. No one in Bishop could get me in that day and we needed to get home that night, but luckily Oreilly's had one in stock and I went through a parking lot replacement... super fun after the rain. But, it got us home!

Other than that it was a fantastic trip with my now wife!

Lol not really... went on a couple trips last year and then moved to Alabama for graduate school this year. Truck's still in CA because we could only use so many drivers to move with covid. Next year...

    Wow dude! Graduate school? Congrats!

Hopefully, you're able to get out at least a bit and explore.

Thanks! First semester was wild getting back into school after 6 years off. We got up to Sipsey wilderness for our anniversary. No eastern sierras but it's damn beautiful up there!

Any adventure updates in the last several years? Stumbled across this while looking through some old saved threads.
