My rear passenger door lock is getting stuck. Fob works on all other doors and usually after manually unlocking the door, it’ll function for a bit before getting stuck again.

From reading other threads, I’m guessing it’s either gunked up, or it’s motor is starting to fail.

Either way, is there an exploded actuator diagram to see if there’s access to spray in some lube as a “first try” before removing the door panel and actuator itself.

Trying to avoid doing this twice when Santa brings me the kicker speaker set from trail grid.

Recently helped a buddy diagnose two failed actuators on his '18 RAV4. Toyota uses assemblies that look something like the attached photo. Tacoma ones are probably very similar. The entire assembly is stupid expensive (~$240 OEM for the RAV).

There is an electric motor that sits inside with a worm gear. Once you open up the assembly, you can replace just the motor. It should be pretty close to this one:

I can't find the actuator pin out for the Taco but to test, I ended up finding the one for RAV4 and applying 9v (+/-) across two prongs to check for movement. I also confirmed I could hear relay switching when just trying to unlock driver and then other doors. Once you pop off the door panel, you can also gently probe the plug with a voltmeter and actuate to see if there is momentary voltage OR just test the motor directly without removing the actuator assembly.

Edit: this is the closest I could find to going through troubleshooting. I'd honestly just go directly to the door/actuator as you don't need to test relays since your other rear door works fine.

Wait until you have everything together AND while you have the doors open put some sound deadening on the outside panels. I'm not an audiophob, but just the sound of the doors closing was worth it to me.

When you're doing surgery, can you snap a few pictures and post on this thread for betterment of future (and present) Taco owners? Having this level of info can be incredibly helpful to the next person trying to diag or do the job.
