Hi guys, I’m planning a road trip from east coast to Pacific Northwest, maybe even to Banff. I heard that there are a lot of small rocks on the roads in northern area and a wind deflector may help reduce the risk of windshield damage. It will also reduce the dead bugs on the windshield too. Anyone can recommend a good and inexpensive deflector for a short term use?

This is how it looks, I think its pretty cool. It does catch some rocks but def wouldn't count on it to protect windshield.

FWIW, the Bugflector II and Weathertech models are the exact same thing coming from the exact same factories. Go with what is cheaper and/or easier to get.

@Tacosauro Thank you! It does look like cool and good quality. I wish they had a light color option as well as my truck is silver.

I have the AVS one and just got back from a run from Arizona to Ohio and back. It will help a little with bugs, but it did save my hood and probably windshield in June when I got showered with debris in Alabama from a passing tractor-trailer. It cracked the AVS shield but super-glue fixed that.

I live near Banff and there are pea and marble size rocks sometimes from stupid gravel trucks hauling material for road and building construction. Also of course in winter for snow/ice. Lots of the drivers/owners don't clean loose gravel after dumping load because they're lazy and many are ex taxi drivers that don't understand road courtesy. I always keep duct and electrical tape in my vehicles for various uses. Covering a rock chip with tape will likely keep it from spreading to a crack. Water in a chip often causes a crack. Of course get it filled asap even while away from home.

Only complaint I have on the AVS deflector is having to use double stick tape to mount it. My 1st Gen deflector is mounted with screws under the lip of the hood.
